This week, as a part of our partner appreciation series, Radio K would like to recognize MSP Film Society for cultivating local art and culture. MSP Film Society is a non-profit organization that promotes film as a medium for fostering cross-cultural understanding. MSP Film Society brings the best international and independent films to Minnesota audiences via the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, numerous niche film festivals like Cine Latino, monthly screening series like MN Made, and daily programming.

Radio K is proud to have partnered with MSP Film Society to present a variety of music-related films and special events this year. Stay tuned for future collaborations, and in the meantime, check out MSP Film Society’s full offerings at mspfilm.org.

Also, go back in time at The Main Cinema on Thursday, November 20th to celebrate their 40th anniversary with the classic film BACK TO THE FUTURE, which screened on the Grand Opening Weekend of the theater in November 1985! Find information about the event at https://mspfilm.org/show/back-to-the-future/.

New Real College Podcast Episode:
“From Lebanon to Palestine: Spotlight on Arab Cinema”

In this episode of Real College Podcast, our team of reporters visited the long-running Twin Cities Arab Film Festival to showcase stories that span borders and generations. Anna Adamson speaks with award-winning Palestinian filmmaker Laila Abbas about creating art under constraint— and why Palestinian stories deserve a global audience. Then, Bianca Caputo introduces us to Mizna, the Minneapolis-based Arab arts organization behind the festival. Next, Hayden Lessiter and Alexandra Denisova speak with Lebanese filmmaker Jihad Saade about Shapes of Normal Human Beings, a 2025 documentary born from an 8-day road trip across Lebanon. Finally, Vanessa Pham sits down with a student leader from the Arab Student Association to reflect on the experience of watching these stories unfold on the big screen, and what it means for Arab students on campus.

In this June episode of Real College Podcast, we are bringing you stories that reflect the celebration, the struggle and the enduring spirit of the LGBTQ+ community. First, reporter Bianca Caputo opens with a personal look at q***r love, followed by Vanessa Pham’s exploration of what it really means to “come out” in different contexts. Then, host Anna Adamson heads into the Radio K archives for a look back at a historic milestone: the legalization of same-sex marriage in Minnesota. With stories from Radio K alumni Marcheta Fornoff and Mitch Skinner, we revisit the complexity and joy of that moment through the voices of newlyweds, officiants and musicians.
