GAMEDIA is hard at work today! Aurora is virtual coaching a new pilot for the Tiny Turbines drone flying team. Gabriel is editing video for Ballare Teatro's dance recital this year. It's a unique recital to edit. Parents filmed their kiddos at home, uploaded the videos, and shared them with GAPMEDIA. GAPMEDIA is combining videos for each song into class performances. Pandemic times call for pandemic measures.

To stay on the topic of 3D design technology, I'll feature the newly developed Liquid 3D printing techniques for the March Art & Technology post: - This is a huge game changer that I actually heard of first from my Design students. Developed by Carbon3D and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, systems like this will soon outpace systems like our Stratasys uPrint SE Plus that we use to prototype my student's designs. http://www.sciencefriday.com/segment/03/27/2015/liquid-3-d-printer-speeds-past-the-rest.html

A new, fast 3-D printer uses ultraviolet light and oxygen to shape liquid resin.

For January Art and Technology Feature... This fascinating 3D printed sculpture by Stanford's John Edmark blends 3D design with film making. It is designed to animate when rotating at rates where frame rate and RPM are proportional to the Fibonacci sequence around which every aspect of the sculpture was designed. http://vimeo.com/116582567

These 3-D printed sculptures, called aniforms, are designed to animate when spun under a strobe light. The placement of the appendages is determined by the same…

Our first post Art & Technology post is for the new year in 2015, and features Chris Milk and Mirada Studio’s “ROME: 3 Dreams of Black”.

This is a first ever interactive film presented with nothing but elements available in HTML5. Commissioned by Google, it was designed in part to showcase the power of HTML5 to bring this magnitude of interactive content to the web without plugins, downloads etc. The musical performance includes Danger Mouse, Daniel Luppi, Nora Jones & Jack White. The surreal theme is well suited to the interactive format and both have received a number of awards. Be advised, the film may take some time to load, with a loading bar that begins quickly but is slow to complete. Enjoy.

When director Chris Milk was approached by Google to create an interactive film to mark the release, and illustrate the capabilities, of WebGL in Google Chrome, Chris enlisted Mirada to design and create the surreal animated world and characters for the groundbreaking project, “3 Dreams of Black.”
