Grief has a quiet way of making us feel deeply alone, especially when it touches the lives of children and young adults far too early. But in the heart of our community, there is a gentle reminder that no one has to navigate these tender moments by themselves. 🤍
We recently had the privilege of sharing the beautiful, deeply personal story behind . Co-founders Sarah Kroenke and Cara Mearns-Thompson both experienced profound losses of their own at a young age, which ultimately set them on a lifelong path of helping others. Together, they bring nearly 55 years of combined mental health expertise to a mission that is truly essential.
What started five years ago with a vision to support local families has grown from 397 visits in their first year to serving families over 4,000 times in 2025 alone. 🕊️
The Grief Club of Minnesota offers a safe, compassionate haven for children, teens, young adults, and their caregivers who are navigating the loss of a parent, sibling, or child. Through individual counseling, peer groups, and therapeutic camps, families are given the space to process, honor their loved ones, and build coping skills.
But what truly moves us is their incredible commitment to accessibility: every single service is provided by licensed professionals at absolutely no cost to families, and insurance is never billed.
We are so profoundly grateful for the light Sarah, Cara, and their team bring to Minnesota families during their darkest chapters. They remind us of the true power of community.
