Unwin-Dunraven Literary Ecclesia

Unwin-Dunraven Literary Ecclesia Text, sound, ritual. // An enormous hand housed in cloistral projection, a finger built and held to touch the magmic pulse of deepest & othermost currents.

IN THE AT first the UNWIND, the UNRAVEN, a single force on wing in the abstract plane above our attic’s attic and searching for purchase in this world— seed and egg, both kept clung unmanifest up in the body of a vast and soaring IT,

plummeted by will through gyre death, gyre born and split, finally, into two. Whether it’s UNWIN that cleaves UNWIN in twain and names one half DUNRAVEN, or DUNRAVEN

who sees his birth-rattle shadow and utters the other name UNWIN,

it’s unsure, impermanent in what pretends at true history. Between them they begat the core, sprung pillars made of marginalia for our cathedral hung stalactitic to the underside of what all’s seen on surface, what gleams extravagant in light mistaken for what structure there was to begin with;

that is, the thing grown hidden like teeth, like fire in five-or-more dimensions throwing its reflection up to where the sun can touch its lack and bless it for the brethren.

Wild peace be with the spirit of Alina Popa who departed us too young. A great artist with a brilliant heart and talent, whose work we will continue to unbox for years to come. She will be deeply missed.

Here is her piece IMITATION OF DREAM, published in .PLINTH. Issue 4.

We were on a narrow corridor, when a staircase stretched into space, pushing the lateral to the margin, the margins of the indefinite. The stairs started climbing themselves under our feet, an abstract ascent, incomplete, and we skipped a few steps on the way. We were going to fetch something from t...

Death will come to the body. Death is not a hollow. It is not silence. It is dispersion. It is cold but it is not black. Do you see what I am saying? I have seen black and it was a silence. But it was living.

thus imbibing poison as his vapour
seizing from his monads a rubric conveying lust
en-firing rivulets from an older woman's carcass

But who is it that’s dead? Myself, or the boy?
It is myself, I am dead.
It is my body before me.
But—
It is the boy.
The boy is dead.

We called it a tower, but it was not a tower. It was, so the few remaining scraps of records seem to indicate, a fragment of a skyscraper, the tallest structure still standing from a city that had once been here, before the collapse, long before any of us were born.

Then, another change. The cats sharpened their teeth and began to show up with strange flesh: longer bones, blocky mandibles, massive snarls of stringy hair. They complained of bad tastes and difficult extrication. They complained of metal shavings and the tang of antipsychotics. They complained of a new, fast-acting rot.
