✨ Programmer’s Pick! ✨
"What drew me into Torah Tropical was the sheer beauty of it - the sweeping Colombian landscapes, the music that seems to breathe with the story, and the unexpected moments of humor that lighten such serious stakes. At the same time, it’s a film that reveals so much about faith, family, and resilience. Watching this family’s journey, I found myself reflecting on what it means to search for belonging and safety in a complicated world. This is a film that lingers - visually stunning, deeply moving, and unforgettable." - Katie Kline, Festival Director

Don't miss Torah Topical, a breathtaking journey from Cali, Colombia to Jerusalem β€” the film is a story of faith, family, and finding home against all odds.

Who's excited for tonight's screening of 31 Candles?!

Lead actor and director Jonah Feingold will be with us for a post-film conversation and a toast to our festival's 31st year. It all starts at 7pm at the Minnesota JCC - Barry Family Campus. Tickets at TCJfilmfest.org.

Leo Kadner (Jonah Feingold), a filmmaker living in New York City, is a bit of a romanticβ€”actually, he’s a full-blown romantic. He’s falling for his uninterested situationship, going on endless, aimless dates, and romanticizing every detail along the way. So when his former camp crush, Eva Shapiro (Sarah Coffey)β€”now a Torah tutorβ€”reenters his life, he decides, at the ripe age of 31, to finally have a bar mitzvah. But as the reality of his choices sets in, Leo may at last be forced to become a man. Writer, director, editor, and star Jonah Feingold’s fifth feature, 31 Candles, perfectly captures Jew-ish New York City neurosis with the help of some fabulous actorsβ€”from the great Caroline Aaron to internet personality and comedian Joey Dardano. With wit, heart, and a truly specific point of view, 31 Candles is a fun and relatable film for anyone searching for loveβ€”and failing spectacularly along the way.
