We’re thrilled to announce that acclaimed singer-songwriter W***y Porter has released his stunning new album, Humans in a Room — recorded entirely live-to-immersive using the IDL 7.0.4 Recording Array and IDL-3103/3203 microphones from Immersive Design Labs.

Recorded live at EastWest Studios (Los Angeles) and Ocean Way Nashville, every performance was captured in real time and mixed directly for Dolby Atmos®—no overdubs, no object trickery. The result: an album that surrounds listeners with honesty, emotion, and breathtaking spatial realism.

We brought the IDL Immersive Recording Array to The Blackbird Academy.

From room acoustics to mic placement, students got hands-on with the complete immersive workflow—capturing music at the source with the IDL 7.0.4 mic array and monitoring in real-time.

We headed to Ocean Way Nashville, where W***y Porter and his band performed live—captured in stunning immersive detail using Immersive Design Labs’ 7.0.4 mic mounting array and 11 of our precision-calibrated microphones (6x IDL-3203, 4x IDL-3201, 1x IDL-3202).

No EQ. No compression. No overdubs. Just pure musicianship—four players in a room, tracked live and routed straight through the Neve console to a 7.1.4 Ex Machina loudspeaker array.

It’s all part of our “embrace the bleed” philosophy: honoring room acoustics, mic placement, and the raw physics of sound to create truly spatial recordings.
