As a professional photographer who follows live music, I have photographed a lot of venues across the United States, from small rooms to national acts. I have also photographed some amazing artists here in North Dakota.
One thing I have noticed is that live music here often does not get the attention or respect it deserves.
At many shows, people talk over the performers, do not tip, do not engage with the music, or treat the band like background noise. In some cases, it goes further than that. The Luke Bryan incident at the North Dakota State Fair, where he was hit in the face by an object thrown from the crowd, was covered by KFYR, the Minot Daily News, People, Fox News, and other national outlets.
That kind of coverage reflects poorly on the music culture here, but it also points to a bigger pattern I have seen myself.
This is not about blaming every fan or every venue. There are good people supporting live music in North Dakota. But if we want more artists, better shows, and stronger venues, we have to show up with more respect for the people on stage.

After more than 30 years of bringing live entertainment to our community, it is with deep heartbreak that we share that Jade Presents is closing its doors.

Since day one, we knew this industry has operated on faith and momentum. The impact, the joy, the community building, and the shared experiences made that worth it. Which is why this ending is so incredibly painful.

For more than three decades, Jade Presents had the privilege of creating live experiences that brought people together. These events were never just concerts to us. They were memories, traditions, community gathering points, and shared experiences that mattered deeply to our audiences, partners, and team.

The reality is that the live entertainment industry changed dramatically over the past several years. Rising costs, shifting touring economics, post-COVID challenges, and increasing pressure on independent promoters created an environment that ultimately became unsustainable. Our team fought incredibly hard to keep this going for as long as possible, and we are proud of the passion, sacrifice, and heart that went into that effort.

There are still many moving parts, ongoing conversations, and unanswered questions we are actively working through as logistical and legal details continue to evolve. Because legal matters are still unfolding, we cannot yet provide definitive information regarding ticketing, refunds, reimbursements, credits, claims, or related processes. We understand those questions are important, and we will continue sharing verified information as we are able.

At this time, we can confirm that Bluestem and UP District Festival Field shows will not be moving forward. Fargo Theatre and Aquarium events remain uncertain, and we will communicate updates on those as soon as we are able. We are sharing what we know now because transparency matters, even when the full picture is still coming into focus.

Questions may be directed to [email protected]. Due to the number and nature of anticipated inquiries, Jade Presents may not be able to respond individually. Subject to legal and practical limitations, Jade Presents will endeavor to provide additional updates through public announcements or other appropriate channels.

Beyond the logistics, there is a very human side to this moment. We are mourning the loss of a company, a mission, and work we genuinely loved.

To everyone who supported Jade Presents over the years: thank you. We are heartbroken but deeply grateful for the artists, audiences, partners, venues, vendors, sponsors, employees, and community members who believed in what Jade Presents was building and were part of this journey.

After 20 years of creating — music, touring, filming, working with artists, and chasing creative ideas all over the country — I’m putting more focus into photography.
A lot of people already know me through music and video work, but photography has always been part of the story too. Winning the Black & White category at the ND State Fair was one of those moments that reminded me this is something worth pursuing deeper.
So I’m looking to work with more people and build out a stronger portrait portfolio — musicians, artists, couples, families, creatives, anybody with a story or a vibe. I want to create images that actually feel like something.
If you want to make something cool together, reach out.

Went out chasing light with my film camera today—one of those rolls you know might hold something special. There’s something about not knowing what you captured that makes it even better.

For now, here’s a quick phone shot from inside an abandoned house… just a hint of what might be on the roll. Stay tuned 👀

The house is still standing—but the ground beneath it has already shifted.

We are living in an age where what once felt permanent now leans quietly, almost imperceptibly at first. Institutions, beliefs, identities—weathered by time, yet unprepared for the storms we refused to see coming.

This image is not decay. It is revelation.

A reminder that stability is not found in structures, but in foundations. And foundations are not made of wood or stone—they are made of truth, adaptability, and awareness.

What tilts today may fall tomorrow.
What we rebuild next will define everything.

Pay attention to what’s leaning in your life.
It’s speaking before it breaks.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park – North Unit, North Dakota

This was taken in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. What you’re seeing is a concretion — a hardened mineral mass (often ironstone or sandstone) that formed inside sediment layers millions of years ago. Over time, erosion wore away the softer surrounding rock, leaving this rounded formation exposed in the badlands wall.

No tricks. No heavy edits. Just light, texture, and time doing what they do.

From a combat veteran’s perspective, formations like this hit different. Pressure builds it. Time shapes it. The outside erodes, but the core holds. That’s not poetic — that’s geology. And it’s real.

Shot on Nikon. Natural light. North Unit silence.
