It was a hot day on the beach in Walton County. A day that makes you question your existence in the world and what the meaning of life is.
Beach Community Services Officer Richard DeLong stopped to work on a large mound of sand someone had piled up in Blue Mountain Beach.
With Memorial Day weekend approaching and turtles actively nesting in the area, DeLong knew the sandbank - sitting around seven feet high and ten feet wide - needed to go.
After what seemed like an eternity, DeLong said he was struggling to make even the smallest dent in dismantling the mound.
That's when Jackson and Austin came in.
The two young men were visiting from Phoenix, Arizona with their parents and asked if they could help DeLong.
The trio slayed the mound, and the families offered a grateful DeLong a cold bottle of water. The three posed for a picture for Austin's mom.
Although the rake and shovel are DeLong's, the victory belongs to Jackson and Austin. Without them, the task seemed impossible. Thank you, fellas, for your kindness.
