Some photogs prefer clouds > hard light (direct sun) because you don’t have to worry about “bad” shadows. I LOVE hard light. Safe = boring if you ask me. Hard light gives the opportunity to play and create real art.
Learning studio lighting from has upped my hard light game 10-fold. For the nerds: the light on the top guy is called “Rembrandt light” and the other is “Loop light.”
