Starlight Thursdays Episode 283 welcome TyCurl to the show!
Originally born in Great Falls, Grew up in Phoenix Az before returning to our beautiful state.
He’s been DJing for the past year, drawing inspiration from a pure love of music of all genres of music and his time as festy kid always wanting to see the other side of the stage.
You may have had the pleasure to dance to his sets at Crazy Mountain Carnival, The zebra and other clubs from Missoula to Bozeman.

We had to do a little interview to get a closer look behind the talent of TyCurl.
What do you find inspiring about this scene and culture?
Watching people get lost in the music as much as I do. Being able to share my love and distinct taste of music with the general public. Mostly everything that the music scene is about, authenticity and pure love!

What genres are in your mix?
I call it Boughetto house. From acid to trap and g house.

Can you tell us a little more about it?
I like to start with weird obscure music and work into a party groove with tracks that sample hip hop or any other genre I feel fits with music produced by Wax Motif, Walker n Royce, VNSSA, The Sponges and Sidepiece to name a few.

Anything else you want us to know?
I love being on both sides of the boards, music is my love language.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 281. Welcome J0N to the series.
He sent us an amazing upbeat house mix I’m sure will put you in the vibe to move fast and keep you on your toes.
We did a little interview to get to know JON better and introduce you to his style and sound.

How long have you been DJing?
2 years

Why did you get into it?
i was in denver with a buddy and he brought me to this show. the moment i heard the music and felt the vibe i was hooked.

What events have you played?
crystal mountain music festival,pulse 3, craft local

Where are you from?
Billings

What about DJing do you find inspiring?
seeing people vibing and being in the groove. seeing someone's eyes light up when you mix in a track they know. feeding off the crowds energy. its all the little things that add up:)

What genres are in your mix?
hard house,speed garage

Who are some of the artists in your mix?
faster horses,kettama,sKa,wolters,will carrigan

Can you share few words about your mix?
i like to think of this mix as a send off for the summer before we begin fall/winter. think of being with your friends at the beach or biking in the Mountains.

How long have you been DJing?
Since 2017 I think!

Why did you get into it?
I like to party and listen to good tunes while I do it.

What events have you played?
I started playing at house parties then was invited to play at Monk’s with Chaddabox & Friends. In 2019 a group of close friends and I decided to throw our own mini festival and we named it Grease Camp 2012. We have hosted our Fest 5 times since it began. Grease Camp was invited to play and eventually host a stage at Forest Creatures in 2023(?). Most recently i played at Funkit Coffee in Missoula and it was such a fantastic event!

Where do you live (generally)?
Missoula, MT.

Where are you from originally?
Flagstaff, AZ.

What inspires you to DJ?
I really enjoy the ability to create a mood or vibe in a room or campsite full of people. Seeing people dance and smile during my sets is the best feeling.

What genres are in your mix?
Tech House, Bass House and Minimal Tech

Can you tell us a bit about your mix?
I was testing out some new genres with this one. I think it’s perfect to play at your next house party.

Our fleet of CDJs is the staple in our equipment inventory and probably the most abused. From spilled drinks, to sudden rain storms, they even flew out a window mid car accident and were drowned by the wave at Bass Boat. Not to mention the endless barrage of heavy handed DJs smashing buttons with adrenaline filled fingers. Each CDJ runs about $1500 used (no case) and that’s for the 10+ year old model. Each paid gig we do a little bit goes back into these guys. Speaking of in them… upon opening, we found lots of hair, lint, dust, and 10 Marlboro miles as well as some loose screws and out of place jog wheel rollers…

This is a deep house set that I designed for a 4 - 6 am sunrise set at this year’s Crazy Mountain Carnival. This is not the set I ended up playing at that event (check your USBs, kids!), but I learned so much that morning: how to graciously face challenges while on stage, how to vibe where you are planted, and how to fall back into celebration with community as a form of catharsis. Arriving:
Stay on the road, the shoulders are soft and the weeds are spikey. go slow, you will pass homes unaffiliated with the event, be cool

Do bring:
-Your ticket (your phone! There’s service!)
-Your wallet (Bring your ID if you plan to drink)
-Your friends who know how to get down and take care of themselves at the same time
-Snacks and grub (the food vendors are lit, save some room for their fixins!)
-Water (a gallon per person per day minimum!)
-bug spray
-Shelter and whatever you need to sleep comfy outside, during the day, after dancing your ass off all night.
-Swimming stuff and floaties for river time
-Never travel without your towel
-Head lamp
-A lighter and extra smokes
-Camping chair
-Trash bags (pack it in pack it out!) -Sunscreen for sun and rain gear for rain (it’s summer in Montana yo)
-Dancing shoes (you might want closed toe shoes for the rocks/weeds/sand)

Don’t bring:
-Dogs (we love them but this party is for humans)
-Kids (18+ to party)
-Weapons and fireworks
