World Malayalee Council to Host World Malayalee Gathering in Houston
Missouri City Mayor Robin Elackatt to Receive Global Citizen Award
Houston, Texas:
The World Malayalee Council (WMC) will host the World Malayalee Gathering in Houston on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at the Stafford Banquet Hall, located at 445 Murphy Road, Stafford, Texas 77477.
As a highlight of the evening, Robin Elackatt, who has been elected for a third term as Mayor of Missouri City, will be honored with the Global Citizen Award of the World Malayalee Council, in recognition of his outstanding public service and contributions to the community.
The program will also include a Special Reception to Global and Regional Leaders, honoring Thomas Mottackel, Global Chairman; Dr. Babu Stephen, Global President; James Koodal, Global Vice President; Dr. Shibu Samuel, Region Chair; and Blesson Mannil, Region President of the World Malayalee Council.
Distinguished guests expected to attend include Ken Mathew, Mayor of Stafford; Surendran Patel, Fort Bend County Judge; Manu Pooparayil, Police Captain; and Mathew Vairamon, Chair of the Stafford City Planning Board, along with several other elected officials and community leaders.
The cultural segment of the evening will feature live music by Lakshmi Peter, a fashion show, and a traditional fellowship dinner (Snehaviram), promising an evening of celebration, culture, and togetherness.
The event details were jointly announced by Lal Abraham, Chairman of the World Malayalee Council Houston Province; Thomas Stephen, President; Biju Itten, Regional Vice President; and Himi Haridas, Women’s Chair.
The World Malayalee Gathering in Houston is expected to bring together Malayalee families, community leaders, and dignitaries from across the region to welcome the New Year in a spirit of unity, recognition, and cultural pride.
