I have a couple notable deaths to report-

•Sara Jane Moore- The woman convicting of trying to assassinate Gerald Ford in 1975, has died. Moore attempted to kill President Ford on September 22nd, 1975 (17 days after Ford was the target of another assassination plot.) Moore was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, but released on parole in 2007. In an interview after her release, Moore stated she shot the president to spark a “violent revolution” in order to bring change to America. Sara Jane Moore was 95 years old.

•Assata Shakur- The Godmother to rapper Tupac Shakur, and a member of the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist’s” has died. Assata Shakur was an American political activist convicted in the murder of a New Jersey State Trooper in 1973. She was convicted, and sentenced to life in prison in 1977.

In 1979, Shakur escaped from prison and the FBI released her info, along with a cash reward of $1million for her safe recapture (Along with a $1million reward offered by the New Jersey Attorney General.) In 1984, it was announced she was granted political asylum in Cuba, despite US government officials fighting for her extradition back to New Jersey. Shakur passed away in Havana, Cuba at 78 years old.

Members of VFEMS responded to a report of a vehicle in a building. After checking on the driver and assisting them out, remaining members remained to remove the vehicle while maintaining structural integrity of building. A short while later, the building was turned over to a contractor. Assisting agencies Vermillion, SD Police Department Stockton Towing.

As the Department of Corrections and the Attorney General’s Division of Criminal Investigation look into Thursday night’s violence, there are more questions about safety for both inmates and staff.

‼️BREAKING NEWS‼️ South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has confirmed that yesterday’s incident at the Jameson Annex Complex in Sioux Falls, was a “mass stabbing” incident involving 6 inmates.

The attack sent 5 of the inmates to the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Marty Jackley- “It was a coordinated attack in which inmates from section 2 of the Jameson Annex got into section 1. When they got to section 1, an all out brawl began.”

Officials have announced the recovery of 3 “shanks.” They are searching for other potential weapons that could have been used.

Jackley says charges are pending, and will more than likely be released on Monday. This is an ongoing DCI investigation.

This incident comes 3 months after a large fight broke out inside the prison. In that incident 14 inmates were hurt, and charges were brought against 24 inmates.

Crews are in Canistota are dealing with a large fire near 261st & 451st. Started as a Field Fire, and it is growing to the vicinity of an occupied dwelling.
‼️PLEASE AVOID THE AREA‼️
**There is now a 4 car accident in the area (451st & Fox Drive), and 1 of the vehicles involved is an unoccupied fire truck that was on scene helping out with a fire.
