Honored to have conducted my friend and mentor’s final check before retirement! Im about to start a petition to keep him flying 😭 but at least we still have him for a few more months. Bill and I formed a special connection out the gate from having both served USCG Cape Disappointment / Astoria. So grateful to have become a Check Pilot under his guidance.

It’s been an exciting chapter this year and currently gearing up to take on my new role as Maintenance Support Pilot Supervisor at Air Methods 🚁👊 An efficient and robust maintenance test pilot program and movement of 450+ aircraft is essential to the success of one of the largest HAA companies in the US, and I am thrilled to play a role in building the Airbus Helicopters H125/H130 program for the company. This is not a doom and gloom post- this is a post about good humans coming together to support one another in a time of need. This is a love story for humanity, and how people show up for one another. I put out to IG that I was looking for a donated helicopter. Without even a pause .clarice offered up a brand new as350 b3e for the mission, and we were on our way just 2 days later able to assist in connecting communities that were unable to coordinate with one another, deliver insulin and other needed medical supplies, generators to areas still affected by power outages, among other recon missions we were able to help out with using the right equipment. Huge thank you to IADOU Nonprofit for providing fuel and lodging to me and my crew .bravo.echo . And a special shout out to for providing us with a much fuel top off when we needed it! It is still a long road to recovery, the area will need donations and support for a long time. If you have the means to donate to either of these non profits, they are doing amazing work. Keep your chin up, we love you!

Let's shed some light on laser safety and why it's crucial to avoid pointing those beams at aircraft! 🚁 ✈️🔦

👉 Lasers might seem like harmless pointers, but when aimed at planes, they pose a SERIOUS threat to pilots' vision and flight safety. 🚨👀

✅ Remember: Those seemingly harmless laser beams can blind pilots or cause temporary vision disturbances, jeopardizing everyone onboard and those on the ground. 🌍

🚫 So, let's keep those laser pointers away from the sky and ensure a safe flight for everyone! 🌟✈️

I always stress the importance of mentorship and friendship in this industry at whatever level you are. Diving into a Check Airman position was a leap for me- catering to a multitude of personalities coming through training and facilitating the hard conversations that sometimes have to be had. I am super grateful to my mentors that have helped me navigate the challenges that inherently come with the job. We still have space in the first cohort of Mentees for the Forever on the Fly Mentorship Program set to train on October 11! In early spring 2020- I quit my job in LA, put in my apartment notice in Venice, and packed up to move to Alaska to fly for the summer season. Unfortunately we all know what happened next. As time went on post Covid lockdown, it made it harder and harder to take that almost 50% pay cut I was so willing to take without blinking for the opportunity to fly in this epic state. Who knows why life doesn’t allow certain things to happen- I like to believe in the grand universal plan forced deviations are pushing you toward something greater or protecting you—so embrace the flow state and go with it. Grateful to have had to opportunity this month to explore this beautiful landscape from the sky. I’ll be back!

I did NOT want to get out 🥶🤣😩 Self serve fuel=almost eating it on the ramp pulling out the hose 😂 I think it might be time for crampons! This is the first time I will be flying in extreme cold conditions. Temps drop to -40 degrees up here in the winter which is just at the limitation of the aircraft. What limits how cold the temperature can be? Jet A can actually start to gel at -40! I am learning so much already about cold weather flying, precautions, and icing risk already. So how do we mitigate some of the risk flying in extreme cold temps? Well following roads starts to look a LOT more appealing than putting yourself and crew in a survival situation in the middle of a field somewhere in the event of an unlikely precautionary landing. Even so it might take awhile for help to arrive. Swipe right for the survival gear we bring, including sleeping bags rated to -40c. What’s in your bag?
