New Ep: Challenger South 1st place: Sarah Page

This we’re joined by our co-hostĀ Sarah Page, fresh off one of theĀ standout performances of the winter ultra seasonĀ ā„ļø

šŸƒā€ā™€ļøĀ Montane Winter Spine Challenger South 2026

In herĀ first ever Spine, Sarah battled the Storm Goretti aftermath, the darkness of the Pennine Way, a long night section, and icy final miles — all while racing smart, fuelling well, and picking off competitors deep into the race.

We break it all down:

ā–Ŗļø A key stop at Hebden Bridge
ā–Ŗļø Running through the night with Rich Bryars

And we ask the big question šŸ‘€

šŸ‘€ Rumour mill is turning…

Word on the (frozen) trail is that previous guest .photography might be out on the this weekend šŸ“øā„ļø

If that’s true, expect some seriously epic shots.

From pain faces at 3am to headtorches snaking across the Pennine Way, David’s knack for capturing the raw, gritty reality of ultras is right up there with the best.

Cold, dark, sleep-deprived… and possibly very well documented.

šŸŽ™ļø NEW SEGMENT: Achievement of the Week

On every episode of Trails, Tales, and Fails, we dive into the moments that truly define an ultra runner — not just the finish lines, but the breakthroughs, battles, and quiet wins along the journey.

We're asking you, or a friend to share ONE standout moment, whether it was:

šŸƒā€ā™€ļø a long run you didn’t think they could finish
šŸŽ½ an event that pushed them to their limits
🧠 a mental challenge they had to fight through
šŸ”„ or a small-but-mighty personal win that changed everything
šŸ’° Something they did to help others

Their story unfolds through five questions:

1ļøāƒ£ What was the challenge?
2ļøāƒ£ What made it difficult?
3ļøāƒ£ What was the turning point?
4ļøāƒ£ How did it feel to push through or succeed?
5ļøāƒ£ What did you take away from it?

These could be raw, real stories that make ultra running what it is.

Every achievement counts — and we can’t wait to share them with you.

ā€œI wanted to make it as hard as I could — that’s the whole point.ā€

This week’s guest onĀ Trails, Tales, and FailsĀ is someone who took the idea of a meaningful challenge to a whole new level.
Alex BanceĀ set off from the Preseli Hills in west Wales — the birthplace of Stonehenge’s bluestones — and ranĀ 300 milesĀ all the way to the ancient monument itself. No recces. Minimal support. Self-navigation the entire way.

Along the journey, Alex collected stones from key locations, grabbed 20-minute naps on the go, battled weather, fatigue, and sleep deprivation, and relied on grit (and a lot of stubbornness) to keep moving forward.
All for an incredible cause: raising money forĀ Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, which supports children with life-limiting conditions in Wiltshire and Dorset.

In this episode, Alex opens up about the highs and lows, the moments of unexpected kindness, and what it really feels like to attempt something far beyond the edge of comfort.
This isn’t just a running story — it’s a reminder of how endurance can create real impact in the world.
