Tim McGraw helped give more than 100 veterans and military families mortgage-free homes.

Starting in 2012, the country music star partnered with Operation Homefront and Chase to surprise military families during stops on his tours.

At many concerts, a local veteran would be brought onstage or surprised backstage.

Then came the announcement.

They were getting a home.

Mortgage-free.

By 2014, the program had already given away its 100th house.

And by 2015, the total had reached more than 100, with even more homes planned.

The homes were provided through the partnership, while McGraw helped present them, raise awareness and turn the moment into something unforgettable for the families receiving them.

For veterans who had spent years serving their country, the gift meant more than just a set of keys.

It meant security.

Stability.

And a place to finally call home.

Federal air safety officials say they will investigate the fiery crash of a stunt plane at an Ohio air show that killed the pilot and a wing walker.
Thousands of spectators at the Vectren Air Show near Dayton, Ohio, watched on Saturday as the biplane, with wing walker Jane Law Wicker, 46, and pilot Charlie Schwenker, 64, careened into the ground and exploded during a low-altitude maneuver. No one in the audience was hurt.
The rest of the show was canceled on Saturday, but was expected to resume Sunday.
The Associated Press reports:
"It wasn't clear Saturday what went so wrong. The biplane glided through the sky, rolled over, then crashed and exploded into flames ... A video posted on WHIO-TV shows the small plane turn upside-down as the performer sits on top of the wing. The plane then tilts and crashes to the ground, erupting into flames as spectators screamed."
The National Transportation Safety Board said it would investigate the crash of the 450 HP Stearmans biplane. The Dayton Daily News quotes Terrence Slaybaugh, the director of aviation for the city of Dayton, as saying the investigation could take months.
"Obviously, this is a tragedy for what's a very small community and our thoughts and prayers go out to those two individuals and their families," Slaybaugh told reporters. "Right now, there's no conclusive answer about why the accident happened."

A pilot and father has been identified as the final of the six occupants killed when a private jet crashedand burst into flames during a snowstorm in Maine last month.
Jorden Reidel, 33, was co-piloting the Bombardier Challenger 600 owned by a Texas law firm with his captain, Jacob Hosmer, when it flipped over in a fiery wreck during takeoff from Bangor International Airport on Jan. 25.
Reidel's identity was formally released by the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Tuesday alongside those of three other victims: Houston lawyer Tara Arnold, 46; sommelier Shelby Kuyawa, 34; and Hosmer, 47.

Event planner Shawna Collins, 53, and chef Nick Mastrascusa, 43, have also been identified as victims of the crash by their families.
The six were onboard the plane owned by the Houston-based lawfirm Arnold & Itkin for business trip to Paris.
Reidel, from Conroe, Texas, began his aviation career in high school and earned his private pilot license in 2010 at the age of 17, according to his obituary.
He graduated with an associate of applied science degree in aeronautical technology from San Jacinto College in 2012, before receiving his airline transport pilot license in 2015.
"With his passion and strong work ethies, Jorden always strived toward advancing his training and received his helicopter rotorcraft rating in 2023. With his airline and helicopter licenses thus achieving his dream to be able to fly the open skies," his obituary said.
Reide married his wife, Jennifer, in April 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Kelsey, in 2024.
The young pilot — who was also a talented BMX bike rider, golfer, and boater - shared several pictures on Facebook of himself flashing a wide grin in the cockpit.
The Paris-bound private jet crashed as it was taking off from a refueling stop at Bangor International Airport amid a powerful snowstorm.
The six people aboard the jet were flying to scope out the next travel destination for high-net-worth clients of the concierge service "Beyond," founded by Tara and Kurt Arnold.
Kurt, a partner at the law firm that owned the plane, was not onboard while his wife Tara tragically died in the wreck.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, but experts say the NTSB will likely focus on the winter storm conditions and whether ice accumulating on the aircraft's wings stopped the plane from taking off.
Reidel is survived by his wife, young daughter, mother, father, two sisters, grandmother, in-laws, and "many other relatives and friends." He is preceded in death by "his best canine companion, Dozer," according to his obituary.

On September 11, 2001, Hanna Born was inside the Pentagon Child Development Center with her younger sister when American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.
Hanna was just three years old.
Service members helped evacuate the children to safety.
Hanna and her sister were later reunited with their family.
Today, Capt. Hanna Born is a U.S. Air Force instructor pilot, training future rotary-wing aviators.
In 2025, she began a personal mission called Run to Remember 2,977.
Her goal: run 2,977 miles - one mile for every person killed in the September 11 attacks.
The mission is not about setting a running record. With each mile, Born shares the name and story of someone who died, focusing on the people behind the number.
She began the effort on September 11, 2025, with the goal of carrying their stories to the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
From a child evacuated from the Pentagon on 9/11 to an Air Force pilot, Hanna Born is marking each mile with a name.

In November 2010, Lance Corporal William "Kyle" Carpenter was serving in Marjah, Afghanistan, beside fellow Marine Nicholas Eufrazio when an enemy gr***de landed inside their rooftop position. According to his Medal of Honor citation, Carpenter moved toward the gr***de in an attempt to protect his fellow Marine. Seconds later, it exploded, leaving both men seriously wounded.
Carpenter suffered devastating injuries to his face and body, including the loss of his right eye, a shattered jaw, and severe damage to his arm. His recovery became another battle. He underwent dozens of surgeries and spent years rebuilding his strength and learning to handle everyday tasks again. Yet the young Marine who had nearly lost everything survived and kept moving forward.
On June 19, 2014, President Barack Obama presented
Carpenter with the Medal of Honor at the White House. At just 24, he became the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient at that time. In one terrifying instant, Kyle put another Marine's life before his own-and then spent years fighting his way back from the consequences of that choice.

A woman was killed in a freak accident at a Kansas airfield after she backed into an active airplane propeller while taking photos.
Just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, the Sedgwick County dispatch received a report about an accident at Cook Airfield in Derby, Kansas, KAKE News first reported.
Derby is a city in Sedgwick County and is the largest suburb of Wichita.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located a woman, believed to be in her 30s, who had been critically injured while taking photos of people getting on and off of planes when she backed into an active airplane propeller,
The woman was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, KAKE reported, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
According to a GoFundMe page, the victim was identified as 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher.
"Amanda Gallagher was kind, adventurous, creative and beautiful inside and out. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed," a statement on the page read.
On October 26th, Amanda passed away in a very sad accident, doing what she loved, skydiving and taking pictures!," the statement continued. "As her family processes through this tragic accident, they could use your help covering the funeral expenses.
Please consider helping them out and also keeping them all in your prayers."
Cook Airfield released a statement on Facebook, expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young lady who died yesterday after a tragic accident with an airplane propeller on Cook Airfield. I wasn't there when it happened, so I will not speculate on what could have or should have happened differently.
Just please keep her family, her friends and her Air Capital Drop Zone family in your prayers and thoughts," the statement read.
