A freight train derailed in a wooded area west of Vidalia Road on Sunday morning.

Harrison County Fire Rescue, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan says the train derailed around 8 a.m. due to heavy rain on Saturday, June 6, impacting the track.
