We recently won three awards in the national College Media Association student journalism Pinnacle Awards.

The special issue of "TheSpringHillian" newspaper devoted to the historic inauguration of Dr. Mary Van Brunt as president of SHC won first place in the "Best Special Section/More than Four pages" category. The commemorative issue was produced by students Tori Ellis, Peri Carr, Fae Fox, Nate Polk and Samantha Gonzalez. SHC Marketing & Communications' Corey Jenkins provided the photography used in the issue.

Fae Fox also received a second place win in the "Best Video Special Event Coverage" category for her story covering the opening of the Janden Richards Center for Community Collaboration in May.

Natalie Williamson received third place in the "Best Use of Short (sub 3-min) Video for News & Information" Category for her coverage of campus action taken over mold concerns in residence hall rooms in October 2022.

According to the CMA website, the Pinnacle Awards "honor the best collegiate media organizations and individual work."

These submissions were judged against colleges with an enrollment of 2999 students and under.

According to their website, the CMA has over 600 members from coast to coast.
The winners were announced at the CMA Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta on Oct. 31.

Earlier this year, SHC student media content received five awards, including three first place finishes, in the Catholic Media Association's St. Juan Diego Collegiate Awards. According to their website, the awards "honor a wide range of journalistic skills and specialties, encouraging excellence and fostering a vibrant Catholic journalism community."
