I thought he was playing behind the coop, but as I got closer I saw his little head poking out of the coop! I have the most feral children๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The coop was disgusting, and needed a good deep clean!! I usually add a fresh layer of bedding on top. You can see all the broken down dust that has been caked up. The roosting bars couldโ€™ve used a good scrub too but itโ€™s so hot outside!! The whole area needs a good clean up. Hard to do with the two kids running wild in this heat!

Hopefully my chickens a bit happier now with their bellies full of a whole bag of mealworms and a fresh coop! At least someoneโ€™s happy๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช

Second year releasing ladybugs into my garden, and once again they eventually flew away. ๐Ÿ˜…

This year I tried a lot harder to help them stay by providing food, water, shelter, and releasing them at dusk right at the base of my plants.

One thing I learned? They absolutely love dill.

A few became chicken snacks, but even the rest moved on after a few days. Did it work? Not really. Did I enjoy it anyway? Absolutely.

Iโ€™ll probably be back with another batch next year!!๐Ÿคช

Two years ago I posted myself mulching my garden with pine shavings and the internet had a LOT to say ๐Ÿ˜…

Some people swore it would ruin my garden. Others said theyโ€™ve done it for years with no issues. Honestly, my garden did just fine, even when I skipped mulching last season.

But this year I wanted to experiment with cedar instead while getting ready for summer heat, keeping weeds down, holding moisture in the soil, and creating better shelter for beneficial insects ๐Ÿž

Gardening has honestly become one giant learning experience for me, and I kind of love testing things out and seeing what works in my own garden over time ๐ŸŒฑ
