was incredible. The weather was perfect. Everyone was respectful of the park. Everyone i met had firm handshakes too!

This was one of the most exciting mornings I've had running a record in a while. Not only do I love Neurosis, but I know Erik (drummer from Mordbear) loves them more! I had no idea Mordbear would open the interview with Steve Von Till. My commute was 2 hours this morning, and it didn't stress me out at all. Fantastic fu***ng interview

Today I'm prepping for . I may be overwhelmed with excitement, as I'm a Wisconsinite who's never been to Sturgeon Bay—crazy! Hopefully I'll see some old faces and definitely looking forward to the new.

I'll be sitting behind my table with my lovely sidekick and with my feet firmly planted on the ground - I'd rather die than deal with another back injury 🧓👨‍🦯

DipRecs have turned to a new chapter, where reviews of bands/albums come along without my request. Cherry on top is seeing BRAINCE Skate or Die Punk Fest this Sat! Great review! 10/10🧠

I haven't done nearly as many Bandcamp finds as Flight has on YouTube, so I decided to pick something from the wishlist at random this morning. Braince is a bass and drums duo that's got something between noise rock and punk at their core, but throw in a lot of other rock, alternative, and some sharper and quirky vocals that caught my attention. Okay—bear with me. It’s late summer (peak insect season here in NE Illinois), and my main focus is learning the new Dipterids (flies) around me. When I capture one I don’t know, I scour books and the web for a genus match. This one took me for a spin!

This small (~4 mm) Tachinid led me to Exorista using three quick face checks:

• Eyes look smooth/bare (no visible micro-hairs).
• Parafacial (strip between eye & antenna) is glossy and basically bare.
• Facial-ridge bristles are short and leaning, not a stout upright row.

Habitat: Found on poison ivy along the Des Plaines River (they’ll perch anywhere while hunting hosts).

A few cool facts (Exorista):
• Parasitoids of caterpillars (cutworms, tussock/armyworm types, etc.), so they’re beneficial in gardens and woodlands.
• Females glue eggs to the host’s body; the larva bores in, finishes development, then pupates outside the host.
• Adults nectar at flowers and are common along edges and river corridors, especially late summer.

There are over 1,000 documented Tachinids in Illinois. It can be quiet a challenge sometimes. Hopefully I'm not incorrect 🙄
