Many in Monona and the Madison Metro area are struggling with the cost of groceries and food, including nearly 65,000 in Dane County may lose their WI Foodshare benefits (i.e. SNAP or Food Stamps) on November 1st.
St. Stephens Food Pantry, at 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, is here in Monona to assist anyone in Dane County. And the City of Monona is lending a small hand too.
Want to Donate?
• Boxes and barrels have been placed in City Hall, the Library, the Community Center, and Maywood School for those who wishing to donate non-perishable food only. While St. Stephens welcomes ALL donations, items of greatest need include:
• Ketchup
• Mustard
• Peanut Butter
• Jelly
• Canned soups
• Powdered laundry detergent
BUT any canned or boxed items can be donated. So are new or slightly used brown paper grocery bags that are used for shopping!
• The St. Stephens Pantry and Secondhand Closet is open to receive donations directly - from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Monday through Thursday. Direct donations can include fresh and frozen items. Perishable items can be dropped directly at St. Stephens during these hours. Items of greatest need include cheese and yogurt.
• As we inch towards winter, warm secondhand clothing is most welcome too.
• St. Stephens is also very grateful for cash (or check) donations – either by mail, by drop off or via a QR code on their website - https://ststephensmonona.org/food-pantry/. (These donations are used to purchase items in demand at Second Harvest, the region’s largest food depository.)
