I went on a business trip for a month, and as soon as I got home, my husband hugged me tightly: 'Let's go to the bedroom, I missed you so much..." '. I smiled, not imagining that that hug would be the beginning of a chain of days impossible to forget. Because he wasn't the only one waiting for me in that house...
Mexico City early May. The first rain of the season fell unexpectedly, as did a woman's spirits who had just left the airport after a month's work in Monterrey. Mariana dragged her suitcase, with her heart pounding with excitement. It wasn't just because the project had been a success — though that also filled her with pride — but because she was finally returning home. With Ricardo, the man who whispered "I love you" every night before sleeping.
Mariana opened the door with her fingerprint, and her heart beat as fast as it was the first date. The two-story house was silent, with a slight scent of newly used floor cleaner. As soon as he left the suitcase, he heard footsteps rushing down the stairs.
— "You're back, my love!" ” — exclaimed Ricardo, hugging her as if a whole year had passed without seeing her. He squeezed her so hard that it almost left her breathless, and then he smiled from ear to ear:
— "Let's go to the room! I've missed you so much! ”
Mariana laughed, snuggling on her shoulder. The familiar smell of his skin, his rattling breathing, the sparkle in his eyes: all of that gave him peace. He nodded:
— “Let me bathe first. ”
Ricardo frowned like a spoiled child, but ended up conceding. While she was taking a shower, he played soft music and prepared an orange juice for her that she left on the table. Simple details, but that meant everything to Mariana.
That night, they hugged each other like they’d never been apart. Richard whispered sweet words to her, and Mariana felt lucky. She knew a lot of women out there had to carry the weight of the world alone, but she had a man who supported her, cared for her, made her feel loved.
The next morning, Ricardo woke up early to prepare breakfast: scrambled eggs, bread, and a cold latte, just the way she liked it. He said :
— “Get your strength back, love. ”
Mariana smiled happily. Maybe people said Mexican men weren't very romantic, but her husband was an exception.
However, happiness is sometimes like glass: transparent, beautiful... but fragile.
Three days later, Mariana found a bandage for red hair under the pillow in the bedroom. It wasn't hers. She never wore that guy, let alone that color.
He held her in the hand for a good while. She felt no overflowing jealousy or fury, just a deep sadness, like a melody slowly extinguished. Because women have a sixth sense. He didn't say anything.
That night, while resting with her head on her husband's arm, she asked in a low voice:
— "While I've been away... somebody come over our house? ”
Ricardo responded without hesitation... Read more in Comment or Most relevant -> All comments 👇
