As construction was being done on 30th St and 8th Ave in City of Monroe, Wisconsin April 22, a gas line was damaged. Monroe Fire Department responded to the gas leak and monitored the location. There was no apparent threat or danger, as We Energies patched up the scene.

Happy Earth Day 🌎 The village of New Glarus celebrated a couple days early with the New Glarus Cares second annual Earth Day Clean up on April 19, sponsored by Brenda's Blumenladen🌸 With gardening gloves provided, volunteers spread out along Highway 69, CTY HWY H and O, 6th Avenue and village parks to beautify the area.

🚨BREAKING NEWS: Monroe Fire Department responded to a vehicle on fire in the 700 block of 14th Avenue in Monroe at approximately 4:12 p.m. April 15. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

T-minus six days until the Easter Bunny comes hopping around 🐰but kids got to celebrate a little early at the annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt April 12, organized by Monroe Parks & Recreation Department. 🐣 There were roughly 3,000 eggs and 300 containers of chalk for the kids to take home.

It takes a village 🏘, a phrase displayed in the formation and organization of Backpack Buddies. Sam Kubly created the program in 2017 to help address student needs in the School District of Monroe. Once a month through community donations, volunteers purchase and pack snack bags for children that don't have enough food at home. Current District Nurse Dana Kundert reflects how, eight years later, the program has helped students focus in class. 🍎🎒

Monroe Chamber hosted its seventh annual Home and Trade Expo this past weekend at Slice Arena, where all of the booths were sold out ‼️ We had the chance to talk to Chamber Operations & Events Manager Sandi Thomas about the event and how it was a great way for local businesses and the community to connect.

Brodhead Chamber of Commerce partnered with EXIT Professional Real Estate and All American Gutter Protection to bring the Brodhead community the first annual Home and Trade Expo. In its first year, the Expo drew 36 local businesses and over 100 guests to check it out. 🏠🏗

Green County Development Corporation held its annual dinner March 20 at Turner Hall of Monroe with a great turnout of people to celebrate the accomplishments and growth of the county.
In 2024, GCDC put $5.5 million into the community and every $1 generated a $29.40 impact. The organization also assisted more than 200 hundred businesses and received state and national recognition for its efforts.
Monroe Arts Center was recognized for its 50th anniversary, and there were a record 19 nominations for the three award categories --- Outstanding Business of the Year, Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and Leadership Legacy Award. Winners were:

Outstanding Business of the Year: Campbell's Piggly Wiggly, owners Justin and Alicia Campbell

Entrepreneurial Spirit Award: Maribel Lobato and Santos Tinoco, owners of Veracruz Mexican Market

Leadership Legacy Award: Gene Jacobson of Precision Drive & Control Inc.
