As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of American independence, the Monroe Exchange Club is inviting the community to take part in honoring the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States military through its upcoming Field of Honor display.

The Field of Honor will feature a minimum of 500 American flags and will be located adjacent to the River Raisin National Battlefield Park at the corner of North Dixie Highway and East Elm Street in Monroe. The display will be open to the public from June 27 through July 8, with a formal dedication ceremony scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at 1 p.m. The illuminated display may be visited at any time throughout the event.

Community members and local businesses are encouraged to honor family members, friends, and loved ones who are active-duty military personnel or veterans by sponsoring a flag. For $40, sponsors will receive a U.S. flag displayed in the Field of Honor, a certificate of recognition, and the opportunity to pick up the flag following the event on July 9.

Those interested in sponsoring a flag or becoming a major event sponsor can visit www.healingfield.org/event/monroe-mi/ for more information.

The Monroe Exchange Club, the oldest service club in Monroe and one of the oldest in the nation, is celebrating its 105th anniversary this year. The organization is dedicated to promoting Americanism, community service, support for youth and families, and the prevention of child abuse.

Additional information is available by contacting Barry Buschmann at 734-790-5180 or [email protected], or Julie Harman at 734-637-9613 or [email protected].

Sheriff Troy Goodnough’s plea to the citizens of Michigan to contact
their state legislators in support of the pending legislation honoring Animal Control Officer Darrian Young.

Officer Young was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2020 when her marked Animal Control vehicle was struck by a drunk driver.

The proposed legislation would designate a portion of M-
50 in Monroe County as the Animal Control Officer Darrian May Young Memorial Highway, ensuring her service, sacrifice, and dedication to the community are never forgotten.

Please take a moment to watch the video and consider reaching out to your state representatives and senators to express your support for this important legislation.

Together, we can help honor
Darrian’s legacy and the ultimate sacrifice she made while serving the citizens and animals of Monroe County

🐢🐢

For four long months, we’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on something incredibly special, and today we’re finally ready to share it with our community.

🐾 Introducing Twin Tails Pup Club 🐾Monroe’s first membership-based dog park and social club.

What started as a search for replacement dog care options grew into a vision for a place where dogs can play, learn, and socializeβ€”and where dog lovers can connect and build community.

At Twin Tails, you’ll find:

🐢 Indoor & outdoor off-leash dog parks

πŸŽ“ Enrichment-based Day School programs designed to build confidence, social skills, and healthy habits

🦴 Training and learning opportunities for dogs and their humans

πŸŽ‰ Member social events and special gatherings

❀️ Most importantly, a place for dogs and their people to learn, play, connect, and belong

There is still work ahead, but reaching this point feels incredibly rewarding. We are beyond excited to create a place where dogs can make friends, owners can build connections, and our community can come together around the pets we love so much.

Stay tuned for membership information, construction updates, sneak peeks, and opening announcements. Link to join our mailing list is posted below. The best is yet to come. 🐾
