Finished. Got the final bench tops fastened down this afternoon. Ready to use…and it will be used for sure. It’s satisfying to imagine something and then watch it become reality.

R.I.P. Frank. I loved watching this guy come into a place and completely rewire it like it was nothing. I learned a lot about proper breaker box installation from watching him on Holmes on Homes. We lost a good one. God bless 🙏🏻☝🏻

Here are some digital rough sketches of my concept Owl House. After studying the needs of various local species, the dimensions are approx 24” tall x 12” deep x 12” wide. The entrance is 4”.

On the inside I plan to install a 30 degree ramp with staggered perches for grip. My research tells me this is what the Owlets (official name for a baby Owl) need to fledge. Normally this would be a stick or branch inserted by the adult/parent Owl. On the side I’ll install a clean out that swivels up.

DAY EIGHT…building Uncle Mike‘s Workshop. Got sidetracked for a few days, but back at it this morning. Made the corner. Ready for the 3/4” plywood top on this side. Decided to go with an eight inch overhang on two sides (South and West facing walls). On the window side (North facing), I’ve decided I want it a little lower…about 35 inches versus 38. I observed both my wife and niece sit in that spot the other night, and it needs to be a little lower to accommodate everyone. I’ve also decided I like using it as a drafting and work desk and looking out the window to the North. So this has become a two-tiered workbench.

I still have two raccoon-proof squirrel feeders for sale. $65. One is Valspar Red Maple and the other is Winter Twilight Blue.

Our squirrels love them once they grew comfortable with their presence. Took about a week. Now they play hide-and-seek in them with each other.

Also, I’m working on a new birdfeeder and owl house.

My side project for today…at least for about ten hours. This is an absolute winning combination. A base coat of Steen's Syrup dark molasses with a liberal rub of Bayou Marine Cajun Blend. Abbeville meets Ville Platte…all Louisiana…all Acadian goodness 😋
