Little comeback story today for Beau and I in the Wyoming Walleye Stampede Governors Cup on Glendo after finishing day 1 sitting in 45th we put up a big bag on day 2 to launch ourselves 40 spots into 5th out of 140 boats! Was a fun week learning a new but challenging body of water and looking forward to one day being able to come back and fish this place. Wyoming is truly full of great people and great fishing it was a blast 🤠! 2 days off then off to the 3rd stop of the NWT in Escanaba Michigan!

Well the long drive and early morning was worth it! Had one of the best days of fishing I’ve ever had with Reid Nelson Fishing at the Minnesota Tournament Trail! Our 5 best fish were 30.75” 30.25” 30.25” 30.25” 29.75” can’t complain about a day with 4 true St Louis River giants. Hats off to the guys that pulled it out with a 32 inch kicker which sealed the deal. Back home for a couple days before heading to Wyoming for the Wyoming Gov Cup on Glendo.

Drove through the night and got into Duluth at 1am to fish the Minnesota Tournament Trail with my buddy Reid Nelson Fishing. Boat 11 due in at 3:30

The Aim Pro Walleye Series National Championship on Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin is finished we ended up taking 3rd place and came up a few fish shy of where we needed to be! Can’t be mad about 3rd place against some of the best guys in the industry! I can honestly say I learned more this week than I have in a long long time! These Castle Rock walleyes were no joke and they had there own way of living like I’ve never experienced before and some of the things I picked up learning will definitely be dangerous in the Dakotas. We were throwing a 1/8 ounce VMC Redline all week with a Crawler trying to cast at only big fish and not wasting time catching the thousands of small ones in that lake. Picking them out of old river stumps and fallen trees was the key! If I keep knocking on the door hopefully one day it will get answered and I can win on of these things!

Well all you can ask for is a chance and we certainly have one tomorrow. Had one pesky 21 incher that I couldn’t quite get rid of! My big fish bite disappeared and I had 0 big ones at 11:30 and went looking and found a few of the right fish in an area that could produce a very big bag! Putting my head down and not casting at anything under 23 inches in the morning and see if I can’t make a run at this thing. Go big or go home!

Day 1 of the Aim Pro Walleye Series National Championship out here on Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin! 40 boats competing for a brand new warrior boat. Have had some really good days and some really bad days of practice so anywhere from 5 to 35lbs is definitely possible today! Win or lose it’s always my favorite event of the season and I’m ready to get after it.

Hands down, this is the fishing tournament I look forward to most every single year. Unfortunately, with the National Walleye Tour schedule this season, I likely won’t be able to attend. But if you’re looking for a tournament to add to your schedule that will truly elevate your fishing knowledge, this is the one. A large part of the success I’ve had on both Lake Sakakawea and Fort Peck came directly from what I learned fishing this event. The knowledge I gained targeting w**ds on Lake Ashtabula translated into podium finishes at both the North Dakota and Montana Governor’s Cups. I’m constantly asked how I became so confident fishing w**ds in lakes that traditionally aren’t considered “w**d lakes,” and my answer is always the same: spend a few days fishing Lake Ashtabula. It will completely change the way you look and attack a body of water. Not only has Ashtabula helped me become a more confident w**d angler, but it has also greatly improved my ability to quickly identify and break down fish using Garmin LiveScope.

I happened to win this tournament last year and my exact techniques 1/8 ounce jig with a full crawler trying to find wide w**d patches that extended out from shore farther than most seemed to be the ticket!

2nd Stop of the National Walleye Tour on Lake Oahe starts tomorrow! Lots of ups and downs this week looking to put a couple Lake Oahe Giants on the front deck and swing for this thing! Boat number #6 due in at 3pm.

Our 10 year old selves would be in shock over what they have accomplished in the fishing world. Spent more hours fishing with this guy than anyone on the planet constantly bouncing ideas and making each other better anglers . Reid Nelson Fishing better get familiar with the name because he will be a problem. Congrats on the win many more to come!

Not bad for a lake guy! Haha. The Big Muddy Fishing Tournament in Bismarck is wrapped up and we ended up with 38.66lbs which was good enough to take 6th place! I got to give a huge shootout to my teammates Cole Nelson and Cody Backman on Sunday last week they sent me pictures of a couple big fish and a unique way they were catching them. Well this unique way was something right up my alley being a “lake guy” they were live scoping them and watching these fish eat. I got out there Monday night and Tuesday through Saturday we almost never picked up or fished with livebait! Something almost unheard of in the Missouri River. What we would do is find Individual big fish and get these fish to follow it up to the boat (I seen a few bite with my own eyes right next to the trolling motor) or try to lay something on there nose. You would be amazed how many walleyes on this system are sitting 6-8 feet off bottom it was truly something something special to see. I believe this technique we were doing will change river fishing forever we only had 4 days to practice this technique I can’t imagine what a guy would figure out in a month of doing it. We seemed to cover the whole river hitting 15-20 spots throughout the day and fishing anywhere from Umary to up by Price. Definitely lots of gas burned going up and down the river but was a fun day and couldn’t have asked for any better river rats to share the boat with on Saturday!
