Shots with The Burdens. When I heard the demos the sent me, I felt like these dudes need a loud fu***ng record. They indulged me. Caleb brought my Gretsch drums to life and Evan let me dial in the most ridiculous over the top guitar tones. Today Corey is letting me dial in an equally obnoxious bass tone to match these monster guitars.

Rock n roll is alive and well. Thank god.

came and went and in the time they spent here, they left an absolute monster of a record in my lap. played with these dudes in ‘22 and we were blown away by their set. Being in the cockpit watching the album take life was incredible. The amount of talent in this band is top tier.

So… I am toying with the idea of selling off my TAC Scorpion. Gauging interest and may be open to trades. 24/16/2 with Aux return. This sounds like an API bumped into an SSL at a gear swap. I can list about 40 projects I’ve tracked or mixed on this—anything in the last 6 years.

This thing is FAR from stock.
-Upgraded mic pres (4 different kinds ranging from transformer to non transformer)
-All high end opamps in first 16 channels, all DC coupled.
-Aux return has updated opamps and is DC coupled.
-API Master Bus (I bounced all my mixes through it)
-Aftermarket high current power supply (to accommodate more mods that I have cards designed for updating standard opamps to dual discrete)
-Patchbay with extra cabling/TRS connectors
-All new ribbon connectors

I’ll also toss in a few more goodies, outboard rack gear and the original power supply. I’ll help whoever with the little nuances of the board and how to really squeeze the goods out of it. Oh, and this was once Butch Vigs board at SMART Studio.

I’m thinking $4,500.

I like to play games with myself when mixing sometimes. Example, this record (WHICH IS INCREDIBLE!!!!) has a such a SOUND. So I decided, I want to emulate this with it “coming from tape going through an SSL”. Then see how far I can get in idea of ONLY having SSL console to mix on.

One thing that gets me so pumped is how just strapping tape across tracks the music already sounds finished. F**k yeah tape. Fun fact, my favorite tape is Tape Face, type two (blue) 15ips.
