Chapter 1 | Life Turning Point

A man once told me — everyone on the path to recovery has been humbled, or they’re getting ready to be.

A reality check hits you in the face so hard you can no longer ignore it.

That’s the turning point.

The moment you can’t keep living the way you’ve been living. The moment something has to change — because if it doesn’t, you lose everything.

Mine came in one week.

Today, June 26th, the United Nations observes the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

I want to start today’s lesson with something real.

Kurt Cobain was one of the greatest musicians of his generation. The voice of a generation. But behind “Smells Like Teen Spirit” — behind all that raw genius — was a man in tremendous pain. Chronic physical pain. Depression. And a he**in addiction that consumed him until he was gone at just 27 years old.

He didn’t make it.

But YOU are still here. And that matters more than you know.

I’m in recovery. I know what it feels like to be in that dark place where you think getting help makes you weak. It doesn’t. Getting help is the hardest, bravest thing a person can do.

If nobody has told you today — you matter. You are valued. And I love you. 🙏🏽
