Congrats to Cami Woods, our 2025 Mass Communication Senior Elite!!!
👏👏👏
Cami was recognized earlier this month at UM’s Senior Elite Night.

“Cami Woods is a Mass Communication major with a Theatre minor. She currently serves as President of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) club and has participated in the Honors Program, TRIO, the Astronomy Club, and UPC. Her favorite part of the Mass Communication program is the personal and professional relationships she has developed with her peers, which have strengthened her confidence in her work and studies,” said BEA faculty advisor Dr. Kaley Martin. “She also is a very active leader within the Mass Communication program through not only her service to BEA, but also the program more broadly making her an exceptional student as our Senior Elite.”

While you normally only see our VVN team in the studio, there’s always a producer in the control running the show. This week, Meg was in the producer’s chair keeping a watchful eye on the rundown and communicating with the anchors and tech crew.

As you watch this week’s show, know that there’s a whole team of people off camera that make Vallo Vision News a reality each week.

Alumni Spotlight: Kelly Garrett, Senior Producer at WBRC 6 News
📺🚨
From high atop Red Mountain, UM MC alum Kelly Garrett is a powerhouse behind the scenes at WBRC. Kelly was recently promoted to senior producer of “Good Day Alabama,” and she’s been producing the station’s “Sideline” football coverage this season.
⌨️🏈
“Telling the stories and news of the communities I grew up in has truly become a passion of mine! As senior producer of ‘Good Day,’ I’m able to tell a lot more of the good stories while growing as a leader in the newsroom,” Kelly says. “I’m also producing ‘Sideline’ this season and having a blast! I grew up on the football fields in Central Alabama and getting to relive while sharing those stories is so fun!”
