The order will continue to allow Alabama residents to perform essential activities. Essential activities include travel to procure food and other necessities, religious services with fewer than 10 attendees or conducted through a "drive-in" manner, essential business workers, traveling to see family members and procuring medical treatment. The order also allows Alabama residents to participate in outdoor activities as long as they are in groups of less than 10 and maintain 6 feet of distance between participants.

Facing the uncertainty of COVID-19, some UM students were reassured by steps taken by UM administration during the decision to move classes online by the University of Montevallo.
