A new year is a lot of things. It's like a stack of books waiting to be read; the first vote from a new councilmember; the cool refreshing of a winter walk; new words to the tune of a familiar song; and the unscratched possibility of a lottery ticket. This issue is filled with all the important news of our communities. We think it's the winning ticket!

As the year ticks over from a '25 to a '26, we present you an exhaustive review of the year behind us, and we're excited about the opportunities that lie before us. This week's issue looks at the handiwork of 103-year-old Lillian Davidson, the papercrafts of our nature explorers, and hear from a young woman who is ready to get her hands dirty with newsprint. We celebrate the old - the tried and true - and we embrace the new.

Enjoy the New Year - and enjoy the new Record!

Last weekend's blanket of snow is this week's red carpet. In this issue, we gear up for Christmas celebrations in Brooklyn with a plug for Brooklyn Theatre Company's "It's a Wonderful Life - A Live Radio Play" featuring great talent from all our communities. We get an exclusive with Mrs. Claus' helper Heather, specifically assigned to Montezuma's Hometown Holiday. We roll out the popcorn machine donated to Montezuma Public Library. And as the activities begin to pile up, we remember to pause and wait (and take a break, just read this week's "For The Record").

We hope you enjoy the show that both nature and community planners are putting on for you!
