KB3AWQ Repeater UHF 444.900 PL 173.8 Amateur Radio Repeater in Williamsport, Pennsylvania - Lycoming County

UPDATE: K3ISP got things squared away early morning, so things are now working. Thanks Matt!

Around 8 PM last night the internet stopped working at the club tower where 444.9, 147.09 443.050 etc. is. I was not able to find the issue when I went up. The router is working, and it is connected to the Firewalla that Travis has in between, and from there I am not sure. The internet light is lit on the router, though. I did reboot everything, but nothing changed. Maybe something can be figured out later today as to what is going on.

As requested by some members after my last message about this, a video
recording of the live ham radio interview on FOX 29 in Philadelphia on
Sunday, October 19 was just posted up on a YouTube page created by storm
chaser WX3I who was also a guest on the show with me in the latter half.
Recordings of their live shows are typically not posted anywhere.

It was an unscripted, free-form discussion that went wherever our
host wanted it to go but it worked out well. We got to explain ham
radio during this one hour live presentation on air with the FOX 29
local digital channel and also on the FOX 29 live stream as well. We
pulled some strings and thanks to some work by Lou WX3I, it is available
on a YouTube channel Lou set up. I am sending our meteorologist host of
the interview, Drew Anderson, an ARRL license manual.

I checked the link below and it should work for you. Paste it into
your web browser. If any issues, let me know. The host received a
number of email inquiries from the public about ham radio after this
interview. He suggested another follow-up show in the near future on
other ham radio subjects.

73, and I will see you on the radio.

Today, K4MTP added his Catawissa/Bloomsburg repeater to Allstarlink and connected into 444.900 also. The courtesy tone you will hear on the 444.900 side will say "cat" when a signal comes from it. The frequency for this repeater is 445.925 -5 offset CTCSS 91.5 and is on Catawissa mountain, just south of Bloomsburg.

As Williamsport welcomes the world with Little League Baseball World Series, we are welcoming the K4MTP repeater on 445.3750 CTCSS 91.5 to the linked system through Allstarlink. I have the courtesy tone on 444.900 as "Poco" when someone talks from it. This repeater has great coverage in the Long Pond region of Pennsylvania. I have often been able to get into it from my home here in Williamsport on my base radio, which is really a stretch! Wilkes Barre area is usually about the furthest east. Mike is a good friend and has been doing radio and radio systems for a long time and I consider him a master of! His former boss in the Virgin Islands in the 90s had the 29.660 repeater which was a major 10-meter repeater and Mike had his hands in that as well. Mike is a technical guy who has worked on radio systems his whole life, including the statewide link system in the 90s which was locally on 146.730 in Williamsport and in the commercial world with his day job. Mike is why 53.050 and 29.660 has the signal that it does today, as he is the one who put both antennas up and provided the extra power for them. He was the original one who put 53.050 on here in 2019. I could go on and on!

With Ham shack hotline ending its service at the end of August, I have found that Hams Over IP has a similar service. I have just set up an account up with them and also one for the repeater. The extension for the repeater is 15118. To use this from the phone, you use *99 to transmit and # to unkey. Visit https://hamsoverip.com/wiki for more info.

This Wednesday the Central Pennsylvania Skywarn group will be using (N3FYI) 446.475 for their weekly net at 9pm. Feel free to join in! 444.900 or one of the others that are linked in!
