Two Japanese American confinement sites in Arkansas will receive a total of nearly $270,000 from the National Park Service to support efforts to preserve and educate others about what happened there during World War II, officials said on Monday.

Today our local PAT Chapter raised $200.00 from our first annual UAM PAT yard sale for future trips to historical sites and student PAT initiation scholarships! We would like to thank a core group of dedicated and hardworking PAT student members – Natalie White, Will Leggett, Cheri Miller, and Mary Cate Clatworthy for their work this day. We would also like to thank our colleagues and friends including – PAT Advisor Shari Silzell, John Kyle Day, Mary Heady, Clint Young, Daniel Boice, Jennifer Miller, Herb Gill, and Russ Miller for their time and/or contributions to our sale as well!

Congratulations to our Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society members for their performance at the PAT Regional Conference at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas this weekend. Rynn Hamilton’s paper “Rhapsody in Time: Lessons From Gershwin & the Jazz Age” took Second Place prize and Cheri Miller’s paper “3AS1: A Mound’s Tale” took Third Place for prize for best papers. Well done Rynn and Cheri!

This is just a friendly reminder that the Phi Alpha Theta Initiation will be this Saturday, April 16, at the Monticello Branch Library at 6:00. Business casual wear is recommended, but please feel free to wear what makes you most comfortable.

Potluck food items and drinks will be available. If you wish to bring anything, please do so. The list of current food selections is below.
