Press Release from White County EMA and the White County Health Department:

Recently there have been concerns regarding the possible presence of blue green algae in areas of Lake Shafer. Reports of a blue green coloration and film on the lake have been received locally as well as at the state level. At this time it is advisable to use precautions around areas of discoloration.

•Avoid boating or swimming in affected areas.

•Children and pets should especially avoid coming into contact with the water as they are more vulnerable to ingesting the water.

•Anyone coming into contact with the lake water should be sure to thoroughly shower with clean water and soap immediately following contact. Water should not be swallowed.

This evening the Twin Lakes Social Jeep Club presented K-9 Officer Walker Donley with the check from the Jeep Club’s Go Topless Day in May!! The club raised $11,170 with funds going to Monticello Police Department K-9 fund, $1000 going to the FOP’s Shop with a Cop Fund, and $1000 to the garden tractor pull that happened the day of the event!

Our Story

On March 13, 1989 like two kids in a candy store Kevin Page and brother-in-law Bruce Quinn turned on their mics at WMRS for the first time. WMRS/Sunny 107.7 FM can be heard in Monticello and 9 surrounding counties in North Central Indiana. WMRS is one of the few family owned and operated radio stations left in Indiana.

WMRS Radio has a deep desire to broadcast meaningful programming. We keep our listeners entertained with our unique and fun, family approach to radio. You may hear the 4th generation of radio broadcasters on the air, or our silly bulldog mascot making her voice heard. We share a passion for creativity, to have fun and laugh with our listeners, and in tragedy to cry with our community. We have a dedication to connect with our communities which makes us an integral part of the towns we serve. WMRS Radio has done this by becoming the Voice of the Twin Lakes Area for over 30 years. From staying in the studio for days in the middle of a winter snow storm to something as simple as what band is playing at the festivals, the community has come to rely on us for everything that is happening in OUR community. WMRS Radio has become the lifeline for everything local, and we believe that this is the way radio was meant to be!
