The News-Examiner The News-Examiner covers Bear Lake and Caribou counties in southeast Idaho. Started in Montpelier in 1895 by Charles Harris as The Montpelier Examiner.

The News-Examiner is the oldest, continuous business in Montpelier and the Bear Lake Valley. In the 1960s, The Montpelier News joined forces with the Bear Lake Valley News, becoming what is known today as The News-Examiner. The News-Examiner has original newspapers dating back to 1896. 1895's newspapers were destroyed in a fire, singing only the edges of the 1896 and 1897 papers. They also have so

me of the Paris Post newspapers on file. The newspapers may be viewed and copied by the public for personal use. Come prepared to spend the day and lose yourself in Bear Lake's awesome history. We also provide a full-service copy center.
