🤩 Author Spotlight: Gerald E. Augustine 🤩

EverHarmony Press is excited to welcome author Gerald E. Augustine to the Pages for the Pantry event! Thank you, Gerald, for supporting the East Haddam Food Bank. 🦋

Drafted at just 19 years old in the first round of the Vietnam War draft, Gerald (“Jerry”) Augustine served as a combat infantryman beginning in the spring of 1965. His experiences in the jungles of Vietnam, and later his struggles with PTSD and family challenges, shaped not only his life but also his writing.

During COVID, Jerry was encouraged to share his story — a decision that resulted in powerful works that blend personal history, oral storytelling, and an unflinching look at human resilience. Recently, Jerry returned to Vietnam, capturing moving photographs during his trip just two years ago. These images connect the past with the present, offering a poignant reminder of the places and memories that inspired his work.

📚 Books by Gerald E. Augustine
🔹 Vietnam Beyond — More than a photographic account of life on the front lines, this book explores the realities of rank, power, and vulnerability — both in military and civilian life. Jerry sheds light on how authority can be used, and abused, when people are most defenseless.

🔹 Combat, Suffering, and Renewed Passion in Life (with Milton A. Toratti) — The unforgettable story of Jerry’s time with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, surviving grueling War Zone C campaigns, and finding renewed purpose beyond the battlefield. Through tragedy, PTSD, and personal loss, Jerry rebuilt his life with resilience, commitment to fellow veterans, and an enduring sense of brotherhood.

Join us in celebrating Jerry’s work — and his journey back to Vietnam — while supporting the East Haddam Food Bank! 💛
