The view from my balcony for 25 years, just outside the entrance to Runyon Canyon, as I watched the squirrels navigate the high-wire, while drinking a martini. I miss it dearly. But I miss just as much all my friends out there and send them my best wishes and healing energy as they deal with the aftermath of the fires, and with the soft employment in our business these days. Keep the faith. It will get better. xo

During one tense bullfight, matador Alvaro Munero did the unthinkable. As the crowd cheered, wanting the next dramatic move, he abruptly stepped away from the bull, walked to the edge of the arena, and sat down. The roaring crowd fell into stunned silence.
In a post-interview that came from his heart, Alvaro shared this life-altering moment that led to his decision:
"In one moment I forgot the existence of the horns. All I could see was his eyes, standing there, not with rage but with something much deeper-innocence. He was not attacking me; he was just looking at me, pleading wordlessly for his life. That is when it came into my mind that this isn't an animal I am fighting; this is a living thing that wanted to live as much as I did.".
His eyes had that purity that only animals possess, and in them, I saw that undeniable truth. I felt an overwhelming surge of guilt; it was as if I had become the most heartless creature alive. I couldn't continue. I dropped my sword, left the arena, and made a promise to myself: I would no longer fight bulls; I would fight against a world which makes a game out of the torture of others for amusement.
The story of Alvaro Munero is a rare, powerful look into the transformative force of compassion, even in the most unlikely of places. It is a reminder that one moment of connection can change a life, inspire a new purpose.

Our car washing days were on the same schedule and I'd see him often at the Sunset Car Wash. He was always engaging and a fun hang. Sad he is gone.

Richard Lewis, one of America’s most beloved and revered stand-up comics who also played a fictionalized version of himself on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, died last night at his home in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack. He was 76. His death was confirmed by his publicist Jeff Abraham. ...

It takes maybe the first 2 or 3 episodes of the first season for it to find its tone and tempo, but then...as engaging and quirky and smart as TV gets. Nice they finally worked out the legal wrangling

Ebe Helm, 63, of Mt Laurel, NJ, passed away on February 2, 2024 after a short illness. He was born on April 23, 1960 in Philadelphia and was raised in South Jersey, graduating Lenape High School in 1979. He then attended Burlington County College, where he earned AS and AA degrees, and went on to spend most of his career working as a TV and video engineer, traveling to locations here and abroad.

While still in high school, Ebe built a functioning laser, which years later was displayed at The Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., in their exhibit of home-made lasers. He was an avid supporter of the Battleship New Jersey when it came to Camden in 2001, and was responsible for designing and building a working TV station aboard the ship.

He is survived by a brother, Curtis Crane, of Mt. Laurel, NJ.

Services will be private.

So when we shot her first tv commercial a few years back I said to her: "Taylor, keep this singing/songwriting thing up and someday you're gonna be Time's Person of the Year." Or something like that. Best as I can remember. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv8XNeFZFQc
