Last week on our new OTSS Podcast by Kahn Media page we wondered if any listeners had questions for us, and we got some great ones. Here's the first - a question about Dan's morning routine, how it evolved and how it impacts life at work - positively or negatively.
From Dan: "Here's the TL;DR: I wake up every day around 4am, check email and slack, send emails, run 5-7 miles, come back and do 200 pushups, then a cold plunge, then a quad shot Americano, see the kids off to school, then shower and get back to work.
WHY do I do this? People think its about fitness, and it is. But it's not physical fitness. For me its about emotional health. Running a business, particularly a small business you own, is a challenging gig. Lots of highs and lows, and it can be both isolating and emotionally taxing. I developed this routine to build resilience and give me time to think, ideate, vent and process so I can be my best self at work and at home. When I skip it, I can be a pretty grumpy a$$. So that's my why.
Yes, it's weird. Yes, it works for me and I have more energy (and time) than ever before. Its not without its drawbacks. You can hear more about it below."
What's your routine?
