where’s your home?

I believe our homes are wherever we can just be. I believe our homes are where we feel loved.

But even though our homes are where we feel the most loved, we can still experience loss, despair, anxiety, turmoil and grief.

My home is in the mountains, but I fear the unknown in my path. My home is with my friends, but I fear being unseen and not fully known.

We all have fears. We all have insecurities. We all experience sorrow. We all experience pain.

We fear the unknown. We fear who we are at our worst.

Sometimes, we just need a little nudge. And sometimes we need to give that little nudge to others—

To just be.

what every couple who should have had a wedding in 2020 is thinking right now...

we really just want to see our best friends 😭

preferably within the next year, so if y’all could wash your hands, eat your veggies, sign up to get vaccinated and wear a mask, we should be right on our way.

If you are planning a wedding for 2021-2023 and you don’t have an officiant yet, I highly recommend choosing one of your closest friends and someone who knows you and your significant other well!

My brother is 21 😮😮

Today, I officially feel very old.

I love you so much even though you like Trevor Lawrence. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find many photos of us together once I graduated from college since I moved 12.5 hours away from home. Anywho, I realized you and I probably change our hair more than most siblings do 🙊 You have a different hairstyle in every photo 😂

I hope you enjoy this birthday tribute. Make sure you drink a lot of water 😉Wish I was home to celebrate with you 🖤

first national park visit of 2021

Parks: Hot Springs National Park & Lake Catherine State Park
Trails:
-Sunset trail at Cedar Glades Road to Balanced Rock
-Peak Trail (started at the Promenade behind the Arlington Lawn) to the Hot Springs Observation Tower
-Falls Branch Trail (put in Lake Catherine State Park Campground in your GPS to get near the trailhead)

Our favorite restaurant:
(the best vegan burger, hummus, iced mocha, tortilla chips, and chocolate chip cookies)

where we stayed:
in Hot Springs (clean, safe, nice king suite with fridge, sink and stove top)

where we plan to stay and go next time:
-tent camp at Lake Catherine and hike all the trails there
-go to when it is open (we discovered they close for January so we missed out)
-go back to cedar glades park
-eat at
-go to desoto park and gulpha gorge to hike

I don’t just read for the entertainment; I read to feel understood, to feel loved, to immerse myself, to explore my mind and to put myself in the shoes of others. You get to be entranced in a world outside your own. You get to laugh, learn and cry with characters who become your dear friends.

Growing up, I used to read every weekend and I worked at our public library for three and a half years. When I went to college, I worked at B.E.S.T Library for another 3 years.

But

I didn’t read for fun again until 2020.

I was burnt out from college, from Teach for America, from grad school and from being so lost in my own life.

I haven’t figured out how to merge the world of work and the world of books, but maybe I’m not supposed to. I would love to join BookTok, write about book recommendations and be a source of knowledge for others in the realm of YA and New Adult fiction. At the same time, I want to keep my love for reading as just that, a source of love and joy. Not every passion needs to be profitable.

What do you do that brings you the most joy? What passions do you have that you want to explore more? What would you like to keep as something you do just for fun and self care?
