Crashing Out

Until today, when I saw an article about it, I didn't know what crashing out meant. The article discussed celebrities crashing out including Justin Bieber. It said to check out TikTok to see people crying, venting, and even throwing physical temper tantrums. Apparently this is a new term for being unable to handle things in life. We all have those problems but to display it publicly is new at least to me. Previously we called it people losing it but they didn't act this badly. It may be that people are angry, mentally confused, anxious, stressed out or experiencing mental health issues. Previously, people did this in private. Are they doing it for other people to seek attention or are they actually seeking help? It's a tough call. Why aren't these people going to therapy? If a person passes or you are deeply hurt by someone you love, it is understandable to cry everyday until you get a handle on it. I knew that my grandmother was going to pass as she had been sick. However, when all of a sudden my grandfather passed, it was devasting to me. The old song, "Cry me a River" didn't even come close. When my Aunt Helen suddenly passsed due to a heart attack, I had a great deal of trouble getting past it. It was not easy. I do, however, have a few items from my grandparents and my aunt. Believe it not it helps. However, I did not do a public display. Do you crash out? This type of behavior did not exist in the Good Gus series. Bad Bart did have a temper tantrum but Sheriff Gus solved it quickly. The series gives valuable lessons to young children and is available in paperback and e-book form. In "Misplaced Trust" crashing out is a good term for some of the behavior of a few characters. It is available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. View

Everyone has their own view about something and everything. Yet, frequently whatever their thoughts are they will automatically find another person who will disagree. It started out when we were children. Everyone is raised differently and so each child has their own opinion or view. However, if a child is playing with another child their parents thoughts, ideas and even prejudices are projected onto the child and it often appears on the playground. For example, a child may believe that another child of a different ethnicity or one from a different country is not a person they should associate with based on their parents statements. Most children simply play with each other and only care about having fun. The parents with extreme views program their children which truly gives them a disadvantage in life. Of course, in many families politics are not a topic to be discussed ever. I know a family that is exactly that way. At holidays, it is strictly off limits. The main reason being that the arguments will ruin a perfectly lovely day. This also includes insulting other people about their attire. Even if you do not care for what a person is wearing it is impolite and rude to criticize them. They may believe your appearance is awful. What all this really and truly boils down to is mind your own business and keep your opinions and views to yourself, don't you agree? In the Good Gus series appearances, opinions and negative words were not in a single story. It is important that children think positively. In the "Special Gift" Liam is adopted and he and his new dad are a multiethnic family. Everyone was happy which is what was and is most important. The series is av available online in e-book form or paperback. "Misplaced Trust" has many views and opinions and most of the time the person in charge, the Successor Trustee only cares about him or herself. It is available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. The Dating Game

In today's world, dating has taken a new turn. Years ago there was a show entitled "The Dating Game." I am not sure couples truly developed from it. Today, however, both men and women are posting their credit scores publicly. In addition, in an article I saw a man and woman had a date and when she declined a second date the man wanted her to pay the half of the bill for the money he spent on her. That took me back. Why is everything suddenly about money? I thought the dating game was the concept of getting to know a person. The man has always paid but apparently not any more. It might be easier to date and pay your own way for either party. I guess all the rules of dating have changed. When I dated there was no intimacy. Kissing and holding hands were it. Now, if a person doesn't succumb to intimacy quickly, the other party moves on. The point of learning about each other is to see if you are even compatible, to have fun and enjoy each other's company. In the earlier days couples often married simply because they danced well together and seemed to get along fairly well. Of course, once married when they really learned everything, the divorce rate rose to a new high. Couples really need to spend time together exploring all aspects of each other's lives. They need to learn the good, the bad and the ugly. One of the side effects, though, about dating is that the narcissist is an extremely good liar and deceiver. They can easily make a person believe they are a fine catch, that they love the other person and they would have a beautiful life together. Then, after the dust settles, everything falls apart. Before they realize it they have fallen to the narcissist's prey. They are under their control which can make their lives miserable. In many of the articles I have read about them, they are also bad with money and the men often physically abuse the wives. They are smart, though, as they know where to hit so that there are no visible bruises. Although if a person becomes serious while dating, it really is important to know if they are good with money, in debt, or really have a good income. Joining together is a partnership that works both ways, don't you agree? In the Good Gus series, the dating game did not exist. I didn't believe it was an appropriate topic for young children. The series is available in both paperback and e-book form. "Misplaced Trust" has no dating. It does have characters who will amaze you. It is readily available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. At Fault

Have you noticed that the government is looking for blame as are the families from the Camp flood in Texas? Why do people always have to find something or someone at fault? It is easy to talk about for this type of individual or the government. They are never at fault and always blame others. The individuals who claim they are not at fault have an endless supply of excuses. Of course, these are the same people who believe they are always right and also portray themselves as a victim. They should have gone into acting as they are excellent at it. You have to wonder, though, when are these individuals are going to be held accountable for their actions? This is also true in the governmental system. It occurs in all departments. The instant something goes wrong and a person has to be blamed, the person who made the mistake sets up a fall person. They often have no clue, are fired, and if lucky, they are not prosecuted. Of course, the smart competition and legal sections such as the police figure out the answer. When possible, the basic criminal leaves the country for a non extradition country and takes all the money with them. They live the easy life on other people's money while the person they framed suffered. People really need to be held accountable for their actions. They cannot skate through life and let others take all the blame. They are the individuals who have absolutely no conscience. I know a person who is never held accountable. It is extremely frustrating. Do you know anyone that believes they are at fault for anything? The Good Gus series doesn't have individuals at fault. It is readily available in e-book form or paperback. "Misplaced Trust" has numerous characters at fault. It will amaze you when you read it. It is easily available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Obessessed by Money

In life the majority of people are obsessed by money. Crimes are committed because people are greedy and want a large sum of cash. In almost any given situation, if money is involved there is always some type of issue. Although I have never worked in a restaurant, I know people who have and dividing tips is usually an issue. Some individuals believe it should be divided equally even if only one or two people do all the work. It is not a fair system because the lazy servers and/or bussers count on the hard working people to collect higher tips. I know a person who always serviced a few waiters and waitresses in an upscale restaurant. They happened to be women and they saw how hard this person really worked. They always tipped the busser secretly and he ended up receiving twice as much as the other workmates. This busser often made twice the amount as his coworkers. Of course, this is always true when the money is being distributed by an inheritance. Often the person in charge, the Successor Trustee, will be fair but that is not always the case. They will literally cheat their siblings, lie about expenses and outright steal any and all funds that are available. Then, they disappear. The parents never wanted anything like that to happen but the person who suddenly had control of all the funds was immediately obsessed by money and would be overcome with greed. That is one of the main reasons I wrote "Misplaced Trust." It is readily available in e-book form. In the Good Gus series, there was no real opportunity for anyone to be obsessed by money. The Good Gus Series is available in paperback or e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. AI

All we hear about everyday in social media and the news is AI. I have tried to figure it out but I not good at technology. There are statistics that claim AI CHATGPT will make you complete tasks sixty percent faster. However, it decreases your learning capacity by thirty-two percent. Basically you are using speed to increase the time you finish work but decreasing the cognitive capacity of your brain. Is it worth it? Basically you are outsourcing your brain. It is similar to having a prsonal trainer do all your exercises for you. In addition, it stops your brain from using its creativity. I see ads all the time for writers suggesting we use AI to write our books. I don't like it because it is my brain doing the writing and thinking not some machine. Before you know it the younger generations will become illiterate as the AI robots will do everything for them. These types of stories were in the old science fiction books. I was never allowed to read them or horror stories. My grandparents were old fashioned but I was and still am truly grateful for that. I have also seen ads for AI ad writing. People claim it has increased their sales dramatically. That could be possible as not everyone can write a good ad. Have you tried it? Naturally, AI was not even invented during the Good Gus series. That is what makes the books so much fun for the young reader. It is available in paperback and e-book form. "Misplaced Trust" characters may use AI in the future but not yet. It is available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Pointing

The word point is used in a variety of ways. For example, pointing at someone is usually a form of insult. Sometimes people use their finger to actually hit someone while trying to get them to see their opinion. People also use it in restaurants at waiters which is trying for them not to mention they believe it is rude. When people try to present their side of a disagreement or argument, they often go too far. They tend to be of the opinion that their ideas are right and everyone else's are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and should not force them on others. A fair amount of the world has a form of free speech. It just seems no one else believes it except each individual person. This reminds me of meetings. I have always hated them. Whomever is speaking, they tend to drone on incessantly trying to drill their point home. The reality is that the attendees lose interest quickly and even if they try to focus their minds drift off. Take homeowner associations for example. They have many rules, some of which are unfair to the group, yet their point is one hundred percent control. I saw a movie in which the homeowners association could force you to sell if they deemed you were too noisy three times. That seems dictatorial to me. Do you find pointing rude?In the Good Gus series, Sheriff Gus made the strong point to Bad Bart that he needed to stop having a temper tantrum and being a bully. The series is readily available online in e-book form and paperback. "Misplaced Trust" does have characters who are sure they are one hundred percent correct. They usually aren't. It is readily available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. The Truth

As we travel through life, we often discover that the truth is not what people speak. For several weeks Miss Patty and I have been dealing with a client who cannot stop lying. She made a mistake and now she is harassing everyone to try to solve her problem. The worst part of all of this is that every single thing she says or writes is untrue. We have caught her in several lies including today. She was invoiced and she claimed she never received it. However, the software clearly showed the date and time she looked at it. She literally just ignored the truth. Yes, I am venting but I have a great deal of trouble with people who lie. When I was growing up the truth was tantamount. Now it seems it just doesn't matter. Not to mention that this client wants us to take the blame for her mistake. People are doing this on a daily basis. Women who have had their husbands lie to them while cheating understand this really well. There are continual videos on Facebook about this very topic. Once a child learns how to lie, it is very difficult to break that habit. If they continue as an adult, they usually end up being those shifty salespeople who cheat others. This is true in many fields including loans, mortgages, car sales, and the ads you see on Facebook where they claim something is one price and then it automatically increases over one hundred percent at the checkout. I have seen that with cosmetic products. In the Good Gus series, the truth was an essential part of all stories again as an underlying theme. It is readily available in paperback and e-book form. One of the reasons I wrote "Misplaced Trust" was because I continually watched people lie and cheat not only their families, but the law office and just about anyone they could deceive. It might be a good read over the week-end. It is available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. Negotiations

Negotiation is currrently a political process that does not always work. When I was young my grandmother and I would go to a place where venders had their own wagons of fruits, vegetables and small buildings held butchers. She always negotiated and I think because we had Irish accents she always obtained her price. She also carried leather shopping bags which I still wish existed today. Also, long ago if a person was purchasing a car there was always room for negotiation. Today, to the best of my knowledge, there is no negotiating. All the ads state a set price without really stating that there can be any negotiations. As parents we have negotiated all the time with our children and grandchildren. We even have to argue with our pets. My granddaughter has two puppies that turn six months this month. They can be extremely difficult. The only way to make them behave is with a treat and that frequently includes trying to make them go outside. With children and grandchildren negotiations have become an art. Of course you see it all the time on the old TV shows such as "Leave it to Beaver," "The Brady Bunch," etc. In the reels on Facebook, there are a number of short ones that deal with contract marriages. A son or grandson, or a daughter or granddaughter ends up being forced to get married or they may not inherit a company, an estate and a huge fortune. It's interesting. In the Good Gus series, the children negotiate but in a subtle manner. The series is available in both paperback and e-book form. In "Misplaced Trust" there are characters who do negotiate. It is easily available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Brussel Sprouts

There are very few people who like brussel sprouts including me. When I moved back to Ireland for a while as an adult, I was amazed to see trees of the vegetable. Almost everyone was buying them at the grocery. This came to mind today when I was listening to an old "Leave it to Beaver" while I was walking. His mother was trying to force him to eat the sprouts but he wouldn't hear of it. They had a big family event the next night, a game and dinner at a restaurant, and still the Beaver refused. His mother told him if he didn't eat them he wouldn't be able to attend the game and the wonderful evening out as a family. The dad didn't want this to happen so he finally made a deal with the Beaver. The next time there were brussel sprouts on his plate he had to eat them. Of course, when they were at the restaurant and ordered their meals the Beaver's came with the miserable vegetable. He couldn't bear to eat them. He put one in his mouth and his brother Wally slapped his back and down it went. Then he realized they were not so bad. They were never a popular vegetable until a few years ago. Many of the cooking shows started including them as part of meals for the contestants. That is when a variety of creative ways of cooking them were invented. In case you were wondering, they were developed in the late fifteen hundreds in, of course, Brussels, Belgium. So they were definitely available during the Good Gus era. The books offer different insights to the times. They are readily available in paperback and e-book form. "Misplaced Trust" has nothing to do with vegetables. It does have to do with living trusts and Wills and what happens after a person passes. Some stories will amaze you. It is readily available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. Self-Absorbed

Have you ever met an individual that was so self-absorbed you couldn't stand them? Miss Patty and I worked with an attorney exactly like that. Everything was and still is all about him. For example, one day a few years ago he asked Miss Patty to meet him at the office. Not only was he late, but he made a stop to buy trash bags and realized he forgot his wallet. What type of person believes another individual should wait around until they feel like showing up? A one way, self-absorbed, self-centered, inconsiderate human being. He came from money and he believes everyone should be at his beck and call. Well, he is wrong! He isn't the only person who behaves this way. I have previously written about the former president of my HOA. He continues to act as if he is in charge and allows companies to come through my former resident gates to promote their products. One of the points of living in a gated community is to keep people out. Self-centered people make a huge mess when divorcing. I know of just such a man who took his wife for everything she had. The worst part is that he continues to find ways to hurt her. He is another person who believes whatever he says or does is always right. Over the years many individuals who have become successful did not act that way. They appreciated the fact that they were wealthy but it didn't mean they turned into selfish inconsiderate human beings. Often on Facebook there are videos about kind millionaires who go out of their way to help disadvantaged individuals and even help them find employment. In the Good Gus series, Bad Bart was the self-absorbed character. He learned very quickly though. The books are readily available in both paperback and e-book form. There are characters in "Misplaced Trust" who are certainly self-absorbed. They are the ones who feel entitled to the entire estate. The book will give you lessons on how to hopefully protect your assets when you are no longer here. It is readily available on e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. One Size Fits All

In the 1970's manufacturers came out with a new way to offer clothing at a huge profit to them namely one size fits all. If you were small like me, it was difficult to buy clothing. Everything was large and baggy. Although, during this period the sellers did quite well. In clothing factories, particularly for the lower priced clothing, they used a pattern with a laser cutting machine. They piled a large amount of fabric and then the laser cut through. The first pieces were right on target as to size. However, as the machine moved down the pile, the sizes become larger. It is interesting to watch. But the bottom line is that the reason clothing doesn't always fit exactly is because of this system. This is also true with shoes. The one size fits all theory has moved on to the legal industry. I saw a advert for a company offering a very low price for a Will or a Trust. Here is the problem. I have been doing this for twenty -five years and just as no two humans are alike, neither are the needs of an individual or a couple in the preparation of legal documents. In most states, and actually most countries, the Will is almost useless. It has its purpose if you forgot to put an item in your Trust but otherwise the probate limits are so low that its value is limited. We are all unique as are our needs in life. This is quite true in the Good Gus series. Since there were no fancy factories during the Good Gus era, clothes were made by hand or custom made by small shops. Now that childrens books are popular again, it is a good series to check out. I am having book seven "Lightning Strikes Pecos" illustrated currently. As I mentioned above, no two individuals are alike. This also applies to the characters in "Misplaced Trust." Good Gus is available in paperback and e-book form. "Misplaced Trust" is available in e-book form. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment.
