Locked in🔒recording acoustic guitar for a great singer/songwriter I’m producing her EP and playing guitar in collaboration with some amazing session musicians. I wrote the music on this one. Stoked on the drummer’s performance. There’s ZERO editing, quantizing, or mixing in this clip, just raw audio. Let me know how it sounds! Acoustic guitar is one of the most difficult instruments to record. By nature, it’s raw and unforgiving. If acoustic is a main instrument in the song, 9 times out of 10 the best approach is recording with a condenser microphone to capture high definition detail. To make a clean recording, that means no moving, no tapping your foot, brushing your arm or clothes against the body of the guitar, keeping string noise to a minimum and performing the part perfectly in time. Moving the body of the guitar even an inch significantly changes the sound the mic picks up.A good player, nice sounding (in-tune) guitar, in a balanced, quiet room, paired with correct mic placement for the song you’re working on is a great starting point. Not easy, but always worth it!.......
