The mounting injuries for West Virginia after the blowout loss against Kansas are still carrying over after Utah.

The biggest question after Utah was the status of quarterback Nicco Marchiol. Marchiol played the first four games of the season, but went to Rich Rodriguez the Monday after Kansas and informed him of a lingering mid-foot injury. Marchiol went to Colorado, the Tuesday before Utah, to see a specialist. A couple of days later, Marchiol was listed as “out” for Utah.

The Morgantown High School cheer team welcomed six new faces to complete its roster of 13 girls for 2025. That number includes only one senior and multiple sophomores.

Despite the roster turnover and learning curve that came with it, the Mohigans captured gold at the 2025 WVSSAC Gameday Invitational with a first-place finish in the Small Varsity division.

The Wheeling Park Patriots have been dominant during their girls soccer season, compiling an unbeaten record going into their OVAC 5A championship game vs. University. When the dust settled on the two teams’ title bout, it was more of the same from the Patriots.

Wheeling Park delivered their school an OVAC title on Saturday inside Wheeling Island Stadium with a 4-0 victory over the rival Hawks. The Patriots received two goals from all-stater Julia Dunaway, and one apiece from Corin McFarland and Aria Swartz.

No. 4 University rallies in fourth quarter, downs Fairmont Senior 37-28.

The No. 4 University High School football team scored 13 unanswered points in the final 8:04 against Fairmont Senior on Friday night to come away with a 37-28 victory at Mylan Pharmaceutical Stadium on Baker’s Ridge.

The triple C’s of Clay-Battelle were straight A’s on Friday night.

Caleb Hall, Caleb Snodgrass and Corey Coen – maybe that’s the four C’s – combined for 331 yards rushing and averaged 13.8 yards per carry, as the 10th-ranked Cee-Bees rolled over No. 15 Gilmer County, 58-6, inside I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium.
