University football uses off week for service, fundraising at WVU Hospitals Employee Appreciation Week.

The University High School Football team doesn’t begin fall camp until Monday, but head coach Eric Snyder and the Hawks are already hard at work despite not yet setting foot on the gridiron.

Morgantown Post 2 falls to Beckley Bash 5-4 to bow out of Legion State Tournament.

Morgantown Post 2 head coach Jacob Goodnight didn’t think his team played a clean game on Friday night in an 11-4 defeat to Charleston Post 65.

That effort seemed to spill over slightly on Saturday as Post 2 fell to Beckley Bash Post 35, 5-4, in an elimination game under the sun.

Williams’ walk-off double lifts Post 2 over Parkersburg Post 15, 5-4.

The Post 2 outfielder drove the first pitch he saw in his fifth at-bat on Thursday night to left-center field, scoring the game-winning run as Parker Jeffries scored from second base, giving Post 2 a 5-4, walk-off win over Parkersburg Post 15 in the opening round of the 2025 WV American Legion Baseball State Tournament.

There are a couple of names in college football that are memorable not for their performance, but just for their name alone. Some make the fan-made all-name teams, and West Virginia could have one of their own coming to Morgantown soon.

A week ago, West Virginia received a commitment from 2026 running back SirPaul Cheeks, from Chesterfield, Va. Some say Cheek’s name sounds like a name from the Key and Peele East/West College Bowl skit, but it’s not. Cheeks is the newest addition to the 2026 class.

There will be plenty of baseball played this week at Mylan Park as the American Legion Senior State Baseball Tournament will be held on Dale Miller Field beginning Thursday, with the championship set for Monday next week.

At the current rate, WVU women’s basketball coach Mark Kellogg is going to lead the league in contract amendments.

He’s currently at two since his original contract in Jan. 2024. The most recent one, finalized on June 30, has the potential to keep Kellogg tied to the Mountaineers through the end of the 2031-32 season.

Steve Sabins has an additional 1.3 million reasons to continue to build on his opening success as WVU’s baseball coach.

After leading the Mountaineers to a super regional in his first season as head coach, Sabins and the school finalized a one-year contract extension that ties Sabins to the program through the end of the 2031 season. Sabins’ signed the extension on July 17, WVU athletic director Wren Baker a day later.
