The old scoreboard in the original junior high gym had been there for over 40 years. Since the high school got new ones, we were able to repurpose one of theirs. Thank you to Mr. Robbins, Mrs. Mcneece, and Noah Robbins for helping to get it installed yesterday. A much needed upgrade for that gym.

While many in our community were enjoying baseball tournament play and watching their son play baseball, Jeg and our family spent the last week going to several doctor appointments.

Last Friday we started off in Iowa City doing the urinalysis test to check Jeg's bladder function. He had 2 catheters placed: his ge***al area and through his stoma. He did receive meds to calm down during the procedure and did awesome all things considered. It was just a long day.

Tuesday was another day to Iowa City to meet with a pediatric surgeon to look at the wound on his bottom. That doctor informed us that what Jeg is having issues with in his bottom is indeed a fissure and remedial Crohn's. So it rears it's ugly head once again! However he did not want to do the biopsy because it turns out that IC is losing 5 of it's gastro doctors including the one Jeg currently sees. So he suggested we go back to Lurie's.

Wednesday was the appointment with the AART center at Rush via e-visit to help with Jeg's behavioral issues. Brad and I will be beginning a parent group session via online once a week for 8 weeks to learn strategies alongside other parents to help with Jeg's behavior. We also will be upping the medication he is currently on because we are no seeing any changes. She tried to explain to us some techniques to try in the meantime with Jeg at home.

Thursday was a trip back to the IC clinic in Bettendorf to find out the results of the urinalysis test. It appears that due to all the surgeries Jeg has had on his abdomen has damaged nerves around his bladder causing him to have an overactive bladder and all the issues he is having not being able to empty it all the way, leakage, urgency etc. However she was very happy his bladder was functioning as well as it is. He does not have any damage to his kidneys or any infections. He will probably be in a pull-up for the rest of his life. At this time we are not pursuing a treatment because it would come with long term effects that could eventually mean frequent catheterization. He will need yearly kidney ultrasounds and we need to keep an eye on him. She is also leaving IC and we will have a new doctor next year at our follow-up.

I have scheduled an apt with Lurie's for Tuesday and moved treatment day to Tuesday as well. We will see his pediatric surgeon and I hope someone can peek in from wound care as well. We will be asking for suggestions of a different GI dr @ Luries to see. We will not be going back to Dr. Brown. I hope they do a biopsy so we can pursue treatment. I think maybe a scope will also be brought up to check his small intestine. His IC GI Dr mentioned a topical treatment for his wound so that could also be a possibility once it is confirmed.

When Jeg had is surgery for his wound and colostomy 1.5 yr ago, we were told by his GI at Lurie's that Jeg did not need to be on Crohn's medication anymore and he did not need to see him and to transfer his GI treatment closer to home. That is what we did. We also have seen the IC Crohn's dr for a year and not once was it brought up to test this wound until a month ago. I am upset because I do feel he has been pushed to the side once again. I also don't understand how she did not think it was Crohn's when she looked at it 2 months ago. :(

We are heartbroken for Jeg and for everything he has to endure and keep enduring. We are doing the best we can for him.

Some positive news: Jeg loves to draw and color. Jeg is going to start painting these little birdhouses and selling them. It will be slow going I am sure because he is easily distracted. But it will give him a purpose and will practice some life skills. (He won't be drawing windows on the houses he is selling lol)
