You see calm, but I also felt chaos. And both were real.
Can we stop pretending that motherhood only counts when it looks soft and beautiful?
Some of my best parenting as a new mom happened when I was overwhelmed, raw, and unsure of everything.
When I was bouncing a baby at 3am with cracked ni***es and a lump in my throat.
When I was crying while nursing and pretending I wasn’t.
When I whispered “you’re okay” to both of us like a prayer.
That version of me didn’t feel strong.
She felt like she was breaking.
But looking back, I know now—
that was strength building
That was devotion in action.
That was the kind of motherhood no one claps for, but we are shaped by.
You don’t need to love every second.
You don’t need to glow.
You’re allowed to grieve, ache, and question everything, and still be a darn good mom.
If today feels heavy, you’re not alone.
You’re becoming your next version.
And that counts, even when nobody can see it.
