UC Davis Veterinary Hospital To Open Client Call Center

#UCDAVIS veterinary hospital is doing something interesting. IIt opened a call center away from the reception area. The hospital fields up to 1,800 phone calls per day, fielded by 10-15 client service representatives (CSRs).
They hope to:
• Reduce multi-tasking and stress related to prioritizing the multiple demands currently present in the clinics
• Fewer phone interruptions in the clinics to allow more focus on face-to-face interactions with clients and more engaged support for clinicians
• Fewer in-person distractions for CSRs handling calls to allow better focus on interactions with clients and fully address their needs

CSRs will rotate through the call center and reception desks to improve engagement with the clients while maintaining a finger on the pulse of clinical operations.

Appointments at the UC Davis veterinary hospital can be scheduled by calling 530-752-1393.

IT'S GETTING HOT IN HERE...🔥☀️🔥

As we brace ourselves for the wave of extreme heat that is going to blanket the Northeast and much of the Midwest this weekend, you might be wondering how best to keep your horse comfortable and healthy when the temperature rises.

First off, you are rightfully concerned: the effects of heat can be serious for horses. Equines get hot much faster than humans, and excessive heat stress may lead to hypotension, colic, and renal failure.

Luckily, horse owners can help their horses stay cool by employing simple management practices that include good ventilation; providing shade (which may mean limiting turnout); encouraging water intake and providing electrolytes to replace the minerals lost through sweating; carefully planned exercise (which could mean reducing or avoiding exercise altogether); and actively observing and responding to signs of dehydration, heat stress and anhidrosis -- a compromised ability to sweat.
