Perfect ocean conditions today and humpback whales were breaching everywhere we looked 🌊🐋 Pure magic out there.
Humpbacks can launch their entire bodies out of the water, and every breach feels bigger in person than any video could ever show.

Today’s ocean expedition out of Moss Landing Harbor was unreal 🌊🐋
Humpback whales breaching, pec slapping, and nonstop feeding activity everywhere we looked. Giant sunfish lunge feeding at the surface while thousands of Velella velella drifted across the ocean like tiny blue sails 💙
Curiosity fact 👀
Did you know sunfish can grow over 10 feet long and still survive mostly on jellyfish? The ocean’s strangest giant.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌊💙

In every corner of the ocean, a mother’s love tells a story of protection, patience, strength, and unconditional care. From gentle moments between whales and their calves to the quiet guidance of sea turtles and dolphins with their babies, nature reminds us that there is no force on Earth more powerful than a mother’s love.

Today we celebrate the women who nurture, protect, inspire, and love endlessly. May your Mother’s Day be filled with beautiful moments, deep joy, and memories that warm your heart forever.

Today felt like a dolphin takeover 🌊

We had humpback whales, huge pods of playful Pacific white-sided dolphin, rare Northern right whale dolphin (the only dolphin with no dorsal fin 😮), and even a nursing pod.

Best moment? Spotting a baby Risso’s dolphin still showing fetal folds — the lines calves are born with from being folded inside mom, which fade fast… meaning this little one is brand new to the ocean.

Days like this remind us Monterey Bay is pure magic 🐋

Epic day out there today with several lunge feeding Humpback whales. Pacific white sided dolphins, sea lions, & birds were enjoying feasting on anchovies together with the whales and we had a blast watching it all.

Today felt like the whole ocean showed off 🌊
Thousands of dolphins in town, with playful Pacific white-sided dolphin racing the bow… but the real stars were the incredibly rare Northern right whale dolphin.
These dolphins are one of the most unique species in the world — they’re one of the only dolphins with no dorsal fin, giving them their smooth “sea serpent” look as they glide through the water. They’re fast, elusive, and usually found far offshore, so getting to watch them this close is always something special. Add humpback whales into the mix and today was pure Monterey Bay magic 🐬🐋
