Now Open: Hickory Creek Bridge on Holt County Route B

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Hickory Creek Bridge on Holt County Route B is now open following a bridge replacement project. North Central Bridge, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the bridge today, Thursday, Sept. 4.

The bridge on Hickory Creek has been closed since May 12. For more information on this project, visit: https://www.modot.org/projects/route-b-bridge-replacement-holt-county.

Now Open: U.S. Route 59 bridge over Interstate 29 near Craig

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The U.S. Route 59 bridge over Interstate 29 north of Craig (mile marker 93.4) is now open following a deck replacement project. Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the bridge on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The bridge on Route 59 has been closed since June 2.

Two other bridges are also included in this project -- the Rock Creek Bridge on Atchison County Route F and the Mill Creek Bridge on Holt County Route T. For more information about this project, visit: https://www.modot.org/projects/missouri-route-59-bridge-rehabilitation-atchison-and-holt.

All work is expected to be completed by December 2025.

ALERT: Mound City City Firework display day change!!!!!
The fireworks contractor has reached out this morning and we’ve decided to change the fireworks display to Sunday night, July 6.
Expected rain throughout the day today will impede on a safe setup of the display, and potential rain again this evening could cancel the show last minute.
For those reasons, the show has been moved to Sunday evening, July 6.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but the fireworks pyrotechnics peoples safety is top priority.

Now Open: Mill Creek Bridge on Holt Route T

The Holt County Route T bridge over Mill Creek is now open following a deck replacement project. Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the bridge on Thursday, July 3.

Route T at the Mill Creek Bridge has been closed since May 5.

Two other bridges are also included in this project – the U.S. Route 59 bridge over Interstate 29 in Holt County and the Rock Creek Bridge on Atchison County Route F. To all of our subscribers:

There has not been any mail delivered/picked up in the area since last Saturday, and mail is not being picked up/delivered today. The Post Office is also closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 9, due to President Carter's funeral service. It is hopeful that mail services will resume this Friday, January 10. We wanted to get the word out since newspapers will be arriving later than usual. We appreciate your readership!
