Was on a friend's podcast, turned out well.

Episode four of the Wild Isle Podcast. Joshua and I discuss logic, philosophy, and our illogical and unphilosophical interactions with the general public. Welcome to the Wild Isle Podcast, where in f

People who want to ban misinformation conveniently leave out who they intend to put in charge of deciding what is misinformation.

I wonder if it's "political operatives who agree with me about what people shouldn't be allowed to view"

Brief review/commentary.

Watched season 2 of "The Witcher" on Netflix.

It was watchable, and I did enjoy it. Very rough in a large number of ways though. Writing sketchy, pacing sketchy etc.

If "Henry Cavil fights monsters with sword" doesn't appeal to you, that will hurt. Because Henry Cavil killing monsters with sword is the best part.

Really feels like this would have been better as much more of a "monster of the week" type show then trying to be game of thrones with big overarching plots that feel badly conceived.

First episode was great, rest underwhelming.

Random poll, what political issues do you think are under discussed but genuinely bipartisan?

By genuinely bipartisan I mean "don't just list your pet political issues or things that we all know aren't bipartisan"

(My short list below)

One consideration for new years resolutions is whether they might be better as process based goals instead of end points.

Ex, you might feel more motivated with a process goal of "walk 20 minutes everyday" then with a goal of "lose 15 pounds", because particular actions taken one at a time might be more inherently motivating.

Not an absolute or either/or thing, but might help.

I've unironically told people it's okay to just "go to gym walk for 10 minutes" if that's what they needed to start the habit they want to start.

One thing that is odd, is that I've found renewed motivation to do something with this blog page by embracing that I don't know what exactly I want to do with it.

Currently considering quite a few different things, unbuttoned by thinking I have to be doing the best possible thing already.

If any of these ideas stick out please say so.

1. Slow reads of books l, like 1 chapter at a time short videos (I'd start with dune probably)

2. Movie reviews

3. Some logical fallacy stuff

4. Ranting about why news coverage disappoints me

Important, maybe not. Baffling to me, yes.

Semi serious philosophy post.

One minor source of amusement to me is that when people make anti free will arguments, almost inevitably they can't orient the rest of their thinking around that.

So you get for instance weird attempts to explain why people *should* act a certain way even if there isn't free will.

But of course, there's obviously some degree of paradox in thinking people are rationally persuadable into realizing they actually arent rationally persuadable (in a sense)

I think what's going on is that determinism makes for an incoherent framework, and so leads to obvious problems wheb trying to hold to it in an integrated way.

I'm trying to get back to producing *something* everyday. Even if it's just a tiny post like this one.

Building better habits, starting on new years resolutions now instead of next year etc.

Prepare for questionable philosophy memes and me yelling my opinions into a phone lol
