The Mount Ayr Sesquicentennial Committee has set a fund-raising goal of $60,000 to cover the expense the town’s 150th birthday celebration set for Friday, September 19, through Sunday, September 21. The Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce will host a town hall with state senator Tom Shipley and state representative Devon Wood on Saturday, March 29 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Assembly Room at the Ringgold County courthouse. The event is free and open to the public.

As in past years, the legislators will provide opening comments and then take questions from attendees.

GOOD NEWS! Papers are in the office for pickup today, and are going out to the post office soon. It looks like spring weather is on the horizon next week.

Newspapers WILL NOT be available for pickup in the office today. Due to blowing snow and impassable roads, delivery from our printer is delayed until Thursday, March 6. The post office is also reporting trucks from the main hubs may not be delivering or picking up mail today, which means all newspaper delivery will be delayed at least 1 day this week.
