Have a plan, and stay safe! 🔴🌪🔴

⚠️🌪️The Storm Prediction Center just upgraded our tornado risk from 5% to 10% in their new update and added a “hatched” risk for strong tornadoes (EF2+). With this being an overnight risk (8p-12a) it’s important to review your tornado safety plan and have a way to receive warnings that will wake you up. Stay tuned!

"Come witness America's most rambunctious and unpredictable late-night talk show hosts run amok on "live" television as their producer, Mr. Gilbert, scrambles to keep the show together. Described by audiences as "unlike anything you've ever seen," The Slather & Gibbs Show parodies the late-night talk show genre while examining our media-obsessed culture and exploring the unhealthy heights in which we'll soar to fuel our own vanity and self-importance."

I'm Joni Gill and I'm asking for your vote on Tuesday for Wabash District #348 School Board.

I'm a lifelong Wabash County resident and graduate of District #348. My mother, Sue Neel, taught in District #348 for over 30 years. My husband Rex and I have three kids who are all currently attending District #348.

I'm running because I want to give back and to make our schools the best they can be for our kids and our community.

On Tuesday, vote Joni Gill for District #348 School Board.

Earlier this month, Art and Community Together - ACT asked the Mt. Carmel City Council for a six month delay on building on the old Uptown Theater lot. That request was denied at last nights City Council meeting. A message from ACT's artistic director, and our editor, Cory J. Casburn follow:

~ "Our proposal was denied last night, and Market St. MTC has been given the authority to build on the amphitheater lot immediately.

The City Council suggested we keep working toward our goal, but to focus on a different location in town. As such, we have set our sights on the double lot where the former Hadley's Cafe was located, and we look forward to meeting with the Council to discuss our new proposal.

We plan to have scale renderings of the proposed venue available, and to hold a concert as our first informational assembly and fundraising kickoff in January. Project locations may change, but our commitment to the Arts and our Community remain the same.

If you have ideas or concerns, send us a message! Both our mission, and the stimulus for getting this ball rolling a decade ago, are about getting our Community together to talk about our shared interests. We hope you'll join us!

Cory J. Casburn(Artistic Director - ACT)" ~

In 2010, I gathered a group of artistically minded friends and community members to discuss forming a committee to spearhead building an amphitheater in the old movie theater lot on the 300 block of Market St. We called ourselves Art and Community Together(ACT).

In 2011, I went before then Mayor Tom Meeks, and the City Council, to discuss the options available for use and construction on the lot. I received a lot of positive feedback during our meetings, including the formal City Council meeting, but was asked to wait for a decision following the election in the coming months.

After the City Election, discussed in the attached article, we were not allowed to continue on the project. However, the City did move on with the project, and I applaud the work that has been done thus far.

Several weeks ago, I became aware that the City was planning to begin construction on a stage design that was used to win a fundraising competition for the Uptown Amphitheater. Myself and several others voiced concerns last year when the design was made public, and urged the City's Amphitheater Committee to accept public input.

This Thursday, Sept. 21st, the City, through their Committee, will hold it's first public input meeting on the project before they begin construction on the site. Personally, I couldn't be more pleased!

I urge my fellow Citizens of Wabash County to attend this meeting. More input and support from our community can only help to make this project the best that it can be for Uptown Mt. Carmel!
