In this morning's Sunrise Beacon Devotion, we focused on the profound parable of The Rich Man and Lazarus from Luke 16:19โ31, which serves as a poignant reminder that a righteous life stores treasures in heaven. This devotion emphasizes the importance of living a life that honors eternity over mere prosperity.
We explored the poignant contrast between the lives of the rich man and Lazarus. Despite Lazarus's suffering, marked by sores and pain, his unwavering faith was his true treasure. This morning, we asked ourselves a vital question: "What are you living for?" It is easy to find oneself living for the moment, prioritizing earthly gains over spiritual fulfillment.
The lesson illustrated that many give God only their leftovers, but these won't last. Instead, we must embrace a life of purpose, choosing to live as if heaven is real. While you don't need to endure the hardships of Lazarus to be righteous, you do need to prioritize spiritual truths and eternal goals.
Ultimately, this devotion challenges us to choose purpose over profit, ensuring our lives reflect a commitment to a higher calling. As we anchor our day in faith, we are encouraged to live intentionally, storing our treasures in heaven and honoring the eternity awaiting us.
